More About Coach Duwand

Although I am a native of the great state of New Jersey most of my Basketball experience is here in the tradition rich Dekalb County. As a player I have played on every level, Recreation, High School, AAU, College, and Professional basketball. As a coach , my role on some of the great staffs that I have been apart of has been in the skill development portion. Like my playing experience I have coached on every level except the college level, Recreation, High School, AAU, and Professional basketball. Besides some of the great coaches that mentored me I believe my clear advantage from other trainers is that I have had the chance to play and coach under 20 different playing styles which has blessed me with an understanding of basketball above most. Here are some of the programs I have been apart of...Head Coach-Georgia Lions (United Basketball Association); Assistant Coach- The Griffin Warriors (World Basketball Association); Coach-Atlanta East/West High School All-Star Game (Assistant coach of the West team); Coach- WD Mohammed High School (Responsible for developing skills of the boys and girls varsity program); Coach - Team Georgia Elite Basketball Organization (Amateur Athletic Union)

My greatest achievement was me earning both an Athletic and Academic Scholarship. I was a 2-time College All-American, Team MVP, All-Conference player 3 out of my four playing years only left off as a Freshman. I was drafted in the 2nd round of the WBA professional basketball league. I later joined the SEBL professional league as a free agent. I am the founder of the youth mentoring organization J.A.B. STEP which is ran in Atlanta, Georgia and Boston Massachusetts. We focus on TEACHING, REPETITION, and MENTORING. TEACHING; our training program encompasses basketball lessons within our basketball sessions. We work hard to communicate with the athlete why they are doing what they are doing and how it can be used in a competitive setting. REPETITION; we work by the mantra repetition is the mother of all skill...in other words you will not be able to birth skill without reps. We work over and over and over and over and over at skills and weaknesses. MENTORING; through my playing experience I will be able connect with any athlete that has a passion for basketball. I take pride in accelerating the learning and developing process of young athletes.
