More About Coach Dunte

As a coach, I have helped 270+ athletes in ultimate, soccer, rugby, flag football, and track run faster or return to play after major injuries.

I was a high school hurdler who had to figure things out with no coach and football player who was both recruited by D1 programs and excelled academically. I took on rugby and cycling during college then returned to track as an open-class decathlete after graduating. Now, as a Masters athlete, I race sprint hurdles again in addition to having a little fun in Highland Games, weightlifting, and track cycling.

If you're a Masters athlete (any working adult ready to compete!) in explosive sports, I can help you have a healthy season that leads to your best season yet. If you're a high school athlete in any field sport, I can help you with speed and injury prevention.

My approach to speed & agility coaching has been developed over 11 years working with high school, collegiate, and semi-pro athletes. What you'll remember is that you train LESS, yet perform better!

I am a: Masters 110m hurdler and Highland Games lightweight thrower.

I have been a: 14.9 sec high school hurdler and 4x2 relay sprinter, tackle football defensive end recruit, Texas Tech rugby outside center, decathlete, and weightlifter.

But it's not about me. I've helped prospects make NCAA and NAIA college teams, helped club players make national teams and go semi-pro and reach National Championships, helped Masters get into and stay in the sprints & hurdles, and helped a lot of second-stringers go starting varsity.

My athletes' accomplishments say more than my sport career ever will.

There's a plan from Day 1 to the goal date, but every session adapts to where you are. Our priority is availability - that means dealing with your issues so you are healthy enough to play.

We layer speed and power on top of that. So expect work on posture, sprint technique, and explosiveness in every session. If strength is holding you back, it comes second; if it is not, we go to max velocity as often as possible.

Then, if you can't get enough of it by playing your sport frequently, carefully structured conditioning.

Finally, just the mobility and restoration you need to be ready to perform again tomorrow.

Most training sessions are done in 45 minutes. We only focus on what works and we measure what matters, so you can expect to see your progress week on week and month on month. No guessing or hoping in my programs, just quality work and hard evidence of progress.

My daughter plays soccer and just started working with Dunte to improve her speed. She loves it.

He is incredibly knowledgeable and great with my 16 year old daughter even as she is coming back from an injury.

Excellent, My daughter learned more in one session than a week at her normal practice.

Coach Dunte was very helpful and gave my daughter great drills/skills to utilize on her own time. He is knowledgeable and very personable.

Coach Dunte's training is unparalleled. I am a 68 year old track and field athlete. After 20 years of competitive triathlon, 20 years of tournament racquetball, and 2 years of track and field training across 10 events, I am experiencing results like never before. Dunte's unique approach to tailoring training to the athlete has provided the most productive and transformative experience of my athletic career. Dunte's methods not only enhance performance but also support longevity, making every session purposeful and effective. His coaching stands out as a game-changer for me. I am confident that his methods will be a game-changer for any athlete seeking performance with a long term focus.

Great attitude and approach to the training sessions. Very knowledgeable and works well with young athletes. Looking forward to progress with future training for hurdles and sprints.

UPDATED REVIEW: It's hard for me to find words that adequately describe how terrific Dunte is, because you'd think I'm his uncle or brother-in-law. I started running competitively at age 49 and I'm now 75. Dunte is my third coach, and I've possibly already gotten more helpful coaching from him in two months than I got from my previous coaches in 10 years and 7 years. Dunte strikes the difficult balance between critique and correction on the one hand and praise and encouragement on the other hand. He tells me what he wants me to do ... why he wants me to do it ... demonstrates how to do it ... then watches as I do it--sometimes videoing--commenting on what was good and what needs work. On the practical side, he's superb, as we work out our schedule, where we'll meet, and after each session provides a summary of what we did, conveys my "homework," and what we'll do next. I could go on, but conclude by again saying "terrific."
MY FIRST REVIEW: I was most impressed by his probing questions about why I run, what I want to accomplish, what I want from him as a coach. This process was 45 minutes, before we did anything specific with my actual running. Then we did a series of drills, with his commentaries on what he saw in those drills and what that means about what he can do for me. Plus ... he is personable, respectful, incisive, constructive. In short, he is already my favorite among the three coaches I've had over the past 19 years.

Three words: Professional, Educated, Savvy

Coach Dunte is doing an excellent job. Very detail oriented, specific, and skilled.

excellent session today. Thanks, Coach!!!

Dunte is a great coach. His skill and experience allow him to expertly curate a plan tailored to an athlete’s unique set of needs.

Coach Dunte stood in the pouring rain to coach me. He was patient and informative. I had a blast and came away excited to continue the journey.

My daughter has really enjoyed her sessions with Coach Dunte. He is knowledgeable and passionate about his sport and if you are looking for that extra edge, i think he can help you reach your goals.

Amazing coach, learned so much from only five sessions. You can tell he knows what he’s doing. Highly recommend.

Coach Dunte has been a great coach for Bailey!! He is improving her skill and times!! Looking forward to more sessions with him!!

Coach Dante accesses, evaluates, and makes a solid plan with the athlete. He gives great advice on what is needed to fuel the athlete and how to recover. Comes prepared and is ready for every coaching session and expects the same preparation for physical and mental accountability for the athlete to be successful. Very professional and has a wonderful sense of humor. He makes it fun even through challenging parts. My daughter says he is awesome, outstanding, easy to work with, and has a small weather magic wand that comes out sometimes (meaning somehow he can pick the perfect time when the weather cooperates for a smooth coaching session... :). We recommend Coach Dunte and look forward to a wonderful successful year.

During tryout season, all the captains and people running tryouts said I looked way quicker and more explosive than last season.
Coach Dunte taught me proper sprinting form, helping me get open on my defenders and stay with my person on defense.
I'm faster and have way more endurance than I ever did before. I'm keeping up with and beating people that used to smoke me. People I've played [against] for a while have been impressed with how much faster I am.
In just the first six weeks, my hip that used to hurt when running didn't even hurt when I sprint. And last week, for the first time, I could keep up during hill sprints with my team!
