Duane U.

Hello my name is Duane. I am originally from Princeton, New Jersey, I was raised in Alexandria, VA since the age of 3. I started playing basketball at the age of 5 for the Lee District/Franconia League and the Lee District/Franconia Traveling Team. I have played for the Virginia AAU team , Thomas A. Edison High School at the Varsity level, Shenandoah University and Johnson C. Smith University while working towards my accounting degree.

I have helped coach youth basketball teams as well as train youths teams. I am also an assistant coach for my son Kahdir’s team. Currently, I work with a Basketball training program for youth. I am still playing in various Adult Leagues.

In my spare time, you can find me on various playground courts or gyms training my 7 year old son Kahdir, 4 year old twins Zion and Zyaila and other children in my community.

In the sport of basketball I accomplished being selected to the East vs. West All-Star in High School. Number 1 leader in scoring In High school. College best All-Around Defensive of Player.

I also played for both Semi-Pro EBA (Philadelphia Powers, 2005-2006) and Pro ABA (1st State Fusion, Delaware, 2007-2008) basketball teams, Bump and Run, Goodman Pro-Am Summer League in Washington, DC, and the Hoop Dreams 3-on-3 tournaments. I have helped coach youth basketball teams as well as train youths teams. I am also an assistant coach for my son Kahdir’s team. Currently, I work with a Basketball training program for youth. I am still playing in various Adult Leagues.

I enjoy working with athletes of all ages and levels. I teach side by side with my athlete and engage in the drills as well to give my athlete examples. My sessions start with warm ups and consist of working on skills such as: Passing and Catching, Dribbling, Shooting, Footwork, Court Awareness, Spacing, Defense, Rebounding, Aggressiveness, and Post Play. I then test my athlete's knowledge of what they have learned with a one on one game.
