Played 3 years in the American Association of Independent baseball with the St. Paul Saints and the Kansas City T-Bones. I have primarily pitched throughout my baseball career. Ever since high school, I have focused all of my time, effort and work into pitching and all that it entails.
In December of 2013, I graduated from Aurora University in Aurora, Illinois, with a Bachelors Degree in Coaching and Youth Sport Development and a Minor in Sport Management.
My college career at Aurora University was definitely something I will always look back on and be proud of. It prepared me to compete physically and mentally in the professional rankings.
I am a true believer in fundamentals. They are highly overlooked in numerous programs and that is where a lot of problems arise. I have taken numerous classes, read numerous articles and books about correct techniques that prevent injuries in baseball. I also have had surgery myself, so going through that raised awareness to myself about the importance of staying healthy and the safety of my players. I want my players to get healthy, stay healthy and learn the game the best they can. My goal is to see the players that I coached, earn college scholarships to play baseball in college and potentially professionally. Seeing athletes that I have trained be successful will be such an honor and a great sense of accomplishment.
During a lesson, my main focus will be on mechanics. Mechanics are the most important aspect of pitching. Correct mechanics reduce the chances of injury. Having incorrect mechanics, can cause the body to use the upper half of your body more than your lower half and vice versa, increasing the chances of injury. Other focuses during a lesson would be pitch types, grips and arm angles, covering the correct bases, bunt coverages, fielding ground balls off the mound and mastering the mental aspect of pitching. I want to share all of my knowledge of pitching and the game to all of my players so they have a successful and fun career.
Thank you!
Drew
