Coach Don's first lesson with my son was absolutely phenomenal. I've taken my son to various hitting instructors throughout the years and although I intuitively knew that my sons swing wasn't where it should be, other coaches including myself didn't have the ability to teach my son the "high level swing" or know how to apply it.

Coach Don is the only hitting instructor we ever worked with who is able to successfully teach the proper form and kinetic movements of the " high level swing". We learned more in one lesson from Coach Don than we did in all the years of studying video and working with other hitting instructors. Not only does Coach Don have the knowledge, but he knows how to teach and convey this knowledge to the student. We learned so much in just our first lesson that my son and I were literally blown away! I took my 6 and 9 year old sons to Coach Don Bachman for the first time on Sunday. He went over hitting mechanics starting with the tee. I felt it was a very good first lesson for them and I plan on booking additional lessons for both my sons. Don is extremly knowledgeable about the proper techniqes of playing baseball. He has taken the time to study the game in great detail and learn the correct position of every part of the body when executing both offensive and defensive plays. Although my son has consistently been a strong hitter, I have always been intrigued with the rotational hitting style and what it could do to enhance his swing. He has been working with coach Don for the past six weeks and I have to say Don is the most patient and knowledgeable hitting coach we have ever seen. He recognizes that today’s youth coaches have been indoctrinated in the linear hitting philosophy and unfortunately, this approach has ingrained bad hitting habits. Recently, we experienced a “breakthrough” session with Don that translated to the playing field. Last weekend my son played his first 13U AAA tournament where he batted 500 and had a SLG % of 667. Now he has the confidence that he can hit any pitch, including the best pitchers’ fast ball. Before Don, my son would pull out his front side and create a long swing. Coach Don now has him short to the ball with proper hand position, as well as hip and shoulder rotation. Don’s approach is to first analyze the player’s swing and break it down into good and bad points and then design a series of hitting drills. During a hitting session if Don sees that the player is having difficulty with a practical drill he will adapt and custom the drill so that the player can execute the proper movement. Don always stresses the proper hitting mechanics and positions the player needs to be in and he uses video to show what he is trying to accomplish. His ability to demonstrate how the drill will translate into hitting the ball in the future allows the player to stay focused and motivated. I look forward to what the next six months will produce!
