More About Coach Desean
I have been training since playing at Milligan University in East TN, where I graduated in 2020. I began with doing kids camps at my school, then picked up some sessions with a few of the kids after. I naturally took a liking to it and have had at least 2-3 clients weekly since then. Once I moved to Los Angeles, training became extra income for me so I started training some of the kids I met through my own trainer, Devin Williams (@Devinthelab). Now I have consistent clients who I work with. I’ve done multiple college camps, and have assisted with summer programs. My usual clients are high schoolers, but I’ve worked with a few kids, and even a few collegiate players.
I played at Milligan University, an NAIA school. There I was all conference two times, all defensive team two times, and conference assist leader my junior and senior seasons. I went on to play professionally in the TBL, Georgian 2nd division, Armenian first division, Vietnam VBA 3x3, and now currently playing in Tunisian Pro A league. I was eurobasket player of the week twice in Armenia, and I was all defensive team in the region for TBL.
A typical session with me will usually begin with a physical warm up to get the body moving and active. I am a guard so I like to start off with ball handling; and some cognitive movements. Then I can either work into some finishing moves or shooting off the dribble, this is where I like to get creative and specific to a client and how I feel like their game is.
If it’s a new client, I like to go over the basics so I can get a sense of their level. This involves basic ball handling drills, form shooting, mid range shooting, shooting off the dribble, then 3’s.
Once I’ve developed an idea of what a client’s level is. Then I can determine a flow and pace for them to work on things and add to their abilities. I usually am detailed about footwork, and ball handling. I like to copy patterns of NBA players, and drill in one move into various counters and options.
