More About Coach Derrick
I have been training for 15+ years working with younger kids to develop proper footwork and techniques essential for development on the court. Owner of the Speed Academy where we specialize in speed in agility. The game of basketball has changed and now everyone including 7ft'ers are agile and shooting from the outside. Don't get left behind.
I was a 2 sport athlete throughout my high school tenure State Champion in Basketball senior year. All Region
State Champion in Track in Field
In basketball I earned All-Conference senior year while averaging 17.5ppg, 8RPG
In Track I earned 1st Team All-State senior year,
In college I attended the CGCC and played basketball where I was 2nd in the state in scoring, 3rd in rebounding and 5th in assist as a sophomore.
I Attended Life University where we won 2 national championships. Named All National Tournament, All Region, Led Team in Rebounding both years.
I focus on all fundamentals, kids today are often taught to be robots on the court. I teach and train kids how to think and move freely on their own. I develop each workout around the individual athlete to ensure they are getting the most out of their time on the court. Athletes will be training using the Catapult vest which monitors and stores data and feedback on every moment and step to help perform corrective training for the next session.
My motto train slow play slow. Train Fast play fast but in order to do so the athlete has to implement the basics of footwork and fundamentals.
