More About Coach Deric
My coaching experience is that I have coached select basketball for youth male and female for 4 years. I have recently started to do 1-on-1 training for some of the young ladies that are playing with the local Select Basketball Teams. I am a coach that believe in developing the whole player both mentally and physically. My coaching philosophy is "Make it Count" every chance you get to make yourself better as a person and a player you have to make it count. My job as a coach is to prepare you the athlete for where you are going not for where you are.
A lot of my athletic achievements has come from coaching, this does not mean that I wasn't an athlete. In High School I was apart of two state championship football teams help lead my High School basketball team back to the playoffs. But may major accomplishment is when I along with a host of Coaches on our select team help 3 of our senior player get scholarships to school to play basketball. Now with the group of young men and young ladies that are apart of the team I look to see that number grow.
1. Stretch/warm-up
2. Daily Life Lesson: focus on the key elements that will make the athlete greater.
3. Evaluation of basic basketball skills
a. dribbling
b. shooting
c. defense
4. Position play: Must determine if you are going to be a guard, forward, or post
5. Skill position drills:
a. guards: will work on ball handling, shooting, mental toughness, defense, and passing.
b. forwards: see guard work plus post moves and rebounding.
c. post: see guard work plus post moves and rebounding.
6. Condition and Free Throws
