I work with youth k-12 as well as adults 18+ and won championships on each level in basketball and football including 4 undefeated seasons, Millbrook high school 1st state championship run of 3 in a row winning 2 back to back in women's basketball. I have certifications in basketball, football, lacrosse, and rugby currently.
High School: Thomasville Sr. High School, Thomasville NC and played Defensive Back for Bulldogs football team led by The Allen Brown. All four years of High school we won conference championships and entered into the
playoffs. My specialization was cover corner and made my name with speed, blocked punts, blocked extra point attempts, fumble recoveries, and interceptions. Named to the all Davidson County football team. I was the anchor in the 4x100, 4x400, and 4x200 relays as well as ran the open 100m, 200m, and 400m, named 2x MVP for indoor and outdoor track, State qualifier and medal winner each year. I ran AAU and Junior Olympic track, with the Thomasville Tornadoes. I also played on an undefeated County League Basketball team. College: Lenoir Rhyne College, Hickory NC. I Played Defensive back for one season and did not continue to play after several injuries. Adult Player: Flag Football in Hickory NC, High Point NC, and Thomasville NC
When training with me I match the surface with the target training goal. Choices are between indoor gym, outdoor court, track, grass work, indoor turf, or any combination depending on the location.
All sessions have a standard emphasis that it is bigger than sports. Each session begins with a health check spiritual, physical, and mental and for student athletes and academic check in. Stretching and fundamentals are a part of every session regardless of level or sport. Every drill is designed to reinforce the fundamentals and how to transfer the skills, sport specific IQ drills, and end each session putting in all together with eitgher one or one game or scrimmage or pick up game so that I can monitor how well the fundamentals are being utilized in real time. Some sessions are recorded and we end each day with an update on what improvements were made and what take home drills would be useful to prepare for the next session.

Maria Kinney Snider, former player parent (Testimonial)
My daughter played for Coach Ruff at Millbrook High School in 2010, 11, 12. He was more than a coach. He was a mentor, a watch dog, and a friend, not just to her but our family. He values the kids beyond what they can do for a team. He builds them up from the inside, teaching them to respect themselves as well as others. Coach Ruff went beyond what was expected and got involved with each team member on their level. He keeps a positive attitude but doesn't let them give less than their best. He taught the fundamentals, but he also made it fun! Millbrook became state champions. Those kids still keep in touch with him because he made a difference in their lives. SOSA is an awesome vehicle for Coach Ruff to continue to share his experience, skills and passion for sports and what it can do for a young person's development. I'm glad tp give testimony to support this Academy. I know it's going to make a difference to so many kids. Good luck SOSA!
