More About Coach David
I have trained kids ranging from 8 years old to 14. I have also worked with entire 12U and 13U teams during the off-season to improve strength and mechanics. I enjoy working with pitchers, but I also teach hitting. My preference is to work with older kids who have the desire to play baseball at a high level, however, I also enjoy training kids who are currently playing Little League.
I spent my first 4 years of college at the University of Pennsylvania where I pitched primarily out of the bullpen. I captained the team as a senior, and we won the Ivy League championship in 2023 for the first time in 28 years. After I graduated I transferred to Virginia Tech where I will pitch using my extra years of eligibility that I have due to COVID.
The first thing I do when I am training a new athlete is a full evaluation of where they are as a baseball player. This includes watching them pitch, getting velocity of how hard they throw (if they are at a certain age), as well as a strength and mobility assessment. Once I have a better understanding of where they are at, I specialize my training to the specific needs of the athlete. Baseball is not a “one size fits all” sport, so I train each of my athletes differently, depending on their areas of need.
