More About Coach David
I have experience coaching athletes both in one-on-one private lessons and in team settings. I’ve worked with a variety of age groups, including middle school athletes (ages 9–12) and at the college level. I previously coached at UC Merced, where I helped develop athletes' skills and performance. My background allows me to adapt my coaching style to fit the needs of different age groups and competitive levels.
In high school, I was part of a team that won both the CIF Sectionals and Regional Championships in 2013 and 2014. At the collegiate level, I was honored as a First and Second Team All-American in 2017 and 2018, and I competed as a Cal-Pac Finalist both years as well. After college, I continued competing at a high level in the NPSL with Academica SC, where I had the opportunity to play against top-tier clubs such as Benfica and Club América.
A typical session with me begins with a proper warmup and dynamic stretching to get the body prepared for high-intensity work and reduce the risk of injury. From there, we move into technical drills that focus heavily on first touch using both the left and right foot. I incorporate cone and flag work to improve ball control, body positioning, and spatial awareness. We finish each session with strength and conditioning exercises that integrate the ball, ensuring athletes build both fitness and functional soccer skills simultaneously.
