More About Coach Dat

I have been coaching and training male and female basketball players for 10+ years and they have all ranged from as early as 4th grade to as late as collegiate status. I have been a head coach for boys AAU, girls middle school and currently girls varsity high school throughout my coaching career. I've spent most of my early years in New Jersey but am currently working in New York at an independent school where the players are beginners and player development is our key focus. I've worked typically with high school aged players but will work with middle school aged players as well. Throughout my career, I have helped the development of many young women who have gone on to play at the collegiate level.

I played CYO high school basketball after being cut from my high school team and after four years at a lower level, I received college interest from Division III schools as a point guard. I did not play collegiately, but it's only motivated me to better develop the fundamentals of the younger players.

As someone who specializes in guard development, my focus is on the fundamentals a guard would need. A typical session starts off with a dynamic warmup followed up by stationary ball handling into handling on the move. I believe in repetition after repetition in fundamental skills before advancing to the next step. I incorporate a lot of hand strength through power dribbling drills and resistance.
