More About Coach Daryl

My experience coaching tennis includes working with the U.S. National Special Olympic Team here in San Diego in 2011.
I have been coach for the last four years for the Mt. Carmel girls and boys Junior Varsity team. I also worked with the boys varsity team.
I have also given private lessons over the years, primarily to kids, but also beginning and intermediate adults.

I competed for the Palomar College Varsity tennis team, playing both singles and doubles. Competitive play, league play. Placed 1st in several league play tournaments.

I believe in being flexible because students arrive with varying degrees of playing experience and abilities. I don't immediately try to change their style, swing or grip, but rather observe and talk with them about their motivation, goals and generally what they would like to achieve.
After that I try to instill the things I believe are most important: footwork, calm demeanor, confidence and shifting your weight into the shot. A typical workout would include drills and playing some points but it still depends on where the students are at that point, ability-wise.

Coach Daryl was excellent! Great with my 12 year old who loves the game

My kids are making steady progress thanks to Coach Daryl's style of coaching kids (and beginners). He is very patient and is very professional. Looking forward to more coaching sessions.

Coach Daryl is a wonderful coach. Really willing to take the time to help you improve and better understand the mechanics behind tennis. I could not rate him more highly!

Coach Daryl was very professional, he got there on time and with great attitude. He fixed my serve in 10 minutes. He was so detailed explaining to me every step of a good serve. He used other sports and professional athletes comparison examples that made me understand quickly. He is very knowledgable, he knows what he is talking about.

I enjoyed a lot the lesson. Coach Daryl is very good, very focused on techniques.

Thank you for everything. The lessons brought great improvement. Thanks again for your patience, I appreciated the lessons very much.

Hi Coach Daryl! Thank you for helping me improve my tennis skills. See you next time.

Coach Daryl, Thank you so much for everything you've done for me! You are an awesome coach!
My husband and I started taking beginners tennis lessons with Daryl last month. Under his guidance, we quickly picked up the game. Daryl is a patient teacher. He keeps his lessons interesting by varying the exercises. We strongly recommend Daryl to the beginners of all ages.
