More About Coach Darrell
I have been an individual skills development trainer for basketball for over 10 years. I coach all levels of fundamental basketball from elementary school age to college. I am also a certified personal trainer so I know the muscles of the body and how they work in conjunction with basketball players. Currently I am the JV head coach at DuVal HS. I have been leading the JV program for three years. I am also one of three assistant head coaches for Varsity basketball at DuVal. My area of expertise lies in skill development and getting the kids to understand the mental aspects of the game. In the past I have been JV coach for Jericho Christian Academy, I've been skills trainer for the Northwestern HS (Hyattsville, MD) boys basketball program, and I've been JV coach at Progressive Christian Academy in Temple Hills, MD. I have over 10 years experience coaching basketball at the high school level.
My love for basketball began at age 13. When I first started playing basketball, it was as a freshman at Fairmount Heights High School. I wanted to play JV basketball but the coach there told me that I was ready. That motivation made me work hard. I won the MVP of the intramural basketball league. I transferred to Bladensburg HS as a sophomore and my passion grew more intense. I played varsity basketball at Bladensburg for three years, and parlayed that into a scholarship to Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. I played the point guard position, and back up shooting guard. I played two years before I suffered a serious knee injury. That injury was a blessing in disguise because it led me to really learn the game of basketball and understand it from a player and coach's perspective. I've played in various men's leagues throughout the Washington, DC area, and now use coaching and training as a way to help the younger generation understand how to play basketball the RIGHT way.
A typical session with me consists of ball handling, shooting, defensive drills, rebounding, and other fundamental aspects of basketball. We will also work on SPARQ drills (speed, power, agility, reaction and quickness).

Client Reviews
Marlon Dandy (Testimonial)
I've had the pleasure of Mr. Robinson training my daughter for a few years now. He is an excellent trainer that goes the extra mile to ensure his clients work hard in order to achieve maximum results. He constantly changes up his training routines to make sure my daughter stays engaged and never gets bored. I also appreciate the fact that Mr. Robinson keeps his schedule as flexible as possible to make sure my daughter can train whenever she has free time. On many occasions he has also attended my daughter's games...some as far as New York, to watch her play and make sure that the training is translating into game action. Because of these qualities, and many more I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking to get their child to perform better.
Johnathan Gadson (Testimonial)
Mr. Robinson has been an excellent trainer for my daughter Andria. She plays middle school basketball for Riverdale Baptist. Her coaches are very impressed with the progression she has made in her shooting, dribbling and defense. She's the leading scorer on her team and is team captain. She uses her training techniques in games and it works! Thanks to Mr. Robinson she is realizing the player that she can become.
Wayne Johnson (Testimonial)
Darrell Robinson has been working with my son for two years. When we first brought him to Mr. Robinson my son had noticeable issues with his ball handling. As a 6th grader now, my son is the primary ball handler on his AAU Team (Team Durant) and has made huge strides with his confidence in handling ball.
Nicole Garrett (Testimonial)
Mr. Robinson's training is firm and fair. He is a very personable trainer who definitely meets the needs of his clientele. He has the ability to understand the strengths and weaknesses of his clients, and works with them to build on what they already bring to the table. I am very satisfied with the work he has done with my son who plays high school basketball.
Carrie Bridges - Commissioner South Bowie Boys and Girls Club (Testimonial)
Darrell Robinson is one of the best trainers in the DMV. His love, passion and knowledge of the game resonates in the skills he teaches the players. His training elevates the skill sets of his clients, which increases their ability to play at a high level.
