More About Coach Daniel
I have coached goalkeepers at the middle school and high school levels in both New York and Massachusetts. Now based in Virginia, I’m excited to support the development of goalkeepers throughout the DMV.
I’ve worked with keepers across a wide range of experience levels and goals -- from complete beginners, to players competing for a varsity roster spot, to high school keepers looking to improve their game-day performance and prepare for the next level.
Whether a goalkeeper is just getting started or preparing for college clinics, tryouts, and competition, I tailor training to their individual needs and goals.
I started goalkeeping later than most, first picking up the gloves as a high school freshman. Through four years of dedicated goalkeeper training and hard work, I progressed from learning the fundamentals of making a save to earning a spot on a nationally ranked Division III soccer team that went on to reach the NCAA Final Four.
I know firsthand how much the right training, consistency, and personal commitment can accelerate a goalkeeper’s development. That experience drives my passion for helping young keepers build confidence, sharpen their skills, and reach their full potential.
My goalkeeper sessions are built around three key areas, with each session progressing from foundational technique to game-specific situations:
- Footwork & Movement: Ladder drills, cone drills, and other exercises designed to improve quickness, balance, coordination, and positioning.
- Goalkeeping Fundamentals: Technical drills that build on those movement patterns and reinforce proper form, including lateral standing saves, ground dives, high balls, handling, and positioning. The goal is to develop a strong technical foundation that a keeper can rely on in games.
- Game-Specific Situations: Realistic scenarios that recreate the challenges goalkeepers face during matches, with an emphasis on areas where each keeper needs the most improvement. This can include 1v1s, corner kicks, chips, coming off the line or out of the box, crosses, and shots from outside the 18.
Every session is tailored to the goalkeeper’s age, experience, and individual goals, with an emphasis on building both technical ability and confidence.
