Coach Freeman's session was exhausting, draining, but purposeful and fun. I know that I get better each time I work with him. View all coaching experience

More About Coach Daniel
I have been a baseball and basketball coach in the Roslyn School District on Long Island for the past 9 years. I have coached middle school baseball and have been the Varsity Baseball coach for the past 6 years. For basketball I have coached 7th grade, Freshman, Junior Varsity over that time, and I am currently (for the last 6 seasons), the assistant Varsity boys basketball coach. I have also worked along side Bobby Hurley Sr., and Kevin Boyle and Hoop Group Basketball Camp during previous summers, and have coached and trained athletes at various other summer camps. I was the sports director at Lawrence Woodmere Academy Summer Camp, and head basketball coach at Camp Lakota in Wurtsboro, New York for a number of different summers. Recently I have done individual training for middle school and high school basketball players and I currently coach a 12u Long Island Lightning team during the Fall, Winter and Spring seasons.
I played high school basketball for 4 years at Schreiber High School In Port Washington and 2 years of baseball. I won the coaches award as a senior in high school and as a coach we have made the playoffs each season.
A client that experiences a session with me will leave knowing they learned something knew and understand how to improve on an area of weakness. From the warm-up, to the drills, each session will focus on specific targeted skills that they need to improve upon. Each subsequent lesson will build on what was previously worked on. I do not believe it rushing the process, but I do believe in structured, intense sessions, that allows client to push themselves further than they thought they kid. I want them to know that it is okay to struggle in order to improve each day.
A sample session would consist of the following:
Ball handling warm-up standing still (2 ball drills 30 seconds each progression)
In an outs, crossovers, between legs, in and out with a cross, speed dribble-escape and cross (to half court and back right and left)
Work on form shooting from the paint-make ten from each spot
go around the world --stepping into the pass and shooting with shoulders and feet squared up--> make 5 from each spot around the key
make 20 foul shots
4 min drill( first time around make 5 from each spot around the key, on the way back make 2 in a row from each spot, then make 5 3s) If they finish it, they have to make 2 foul shots then water. If they don't, a full suicide then make 10 foul shots
Catch on elbow extended, shot fake, rip through, one dribble, shot. Make ten on right and ten on left
In order to leave, must make 8/10 foul shots.
