More About Coach Daniel

I graduated from college in May 2012, and played Division II basketball for four years, earning all-conference awards in my final three seasons. After my senior year, I played for the Washington Generals, the opposition of the Harlem Globetrotters for one season, and traveled throughout the U.S. Canada, Egypt, and South America. I then moved onto play professionally in France and did so through the 2013-2014 season.

My goal is to help kids take their game to the next level and earn a college scholarship. I still have active relationships with many Division II and III coaches that I can possibly contact if I believe a player can compete at the respective level.

I have access to a gym in the Northeast section of Philadelphia and am also available to travel around the city and surrounding areas if necessary. Training is available on a 1-on-1 basis as well as group training. I like to keep my training sessions small and the maximum amount of players I can take per session will be six.

2 x All Catholic Selection Philadelphia Catholic League 2006-2007, 2007-2008 seasons.
Earned an athletic scholarship to Chestnut Hill College (D2) in Philadelphia, Pa.
3 x All Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Selection 2009-2010, 2010-2011, & 2011-2012 seasons.
FRESHMAN (2008-09) – Developed into the Griffins’ starting center in the second half of the season, starting 11 of the last 16 games. Comas averaged 7.6 points-per-game (PPG) and 4.8 rebounds per game (RPG) while leading the team in blocks with 31 (5th in CACC).
SOPHOMORE (2009-2010) – Comas had a breakout season averaging 11.1 PPG and 10.0 RPG. I was one of two players in the CACC to average a double-double earning him an honorable mention on the All-CACC Team. Comas also recorded a career performance, posting 33 points and 18 rebounds in a late-season, overtime win over the University of the Sciences (2/21/10) to clinch the Griffins’ postseason berth. I received the Team Most Valuable Player (MVP) award at the Annual Athletics Award Reception.
JUNIOR (2010-2011) – In his first season as team co-captain, Comas continued his fabulous career with the Griffins. I led the team in scoring (16.2 PPG), rebounding (10.0 RPG) and blocks (32) to be recognized as the team’s MVP for the second straight season. Comas was one of three CACC student-athletes to average a double-double and he was rewarded with a All-CACC Second Team selection; doing so while finishing among the league’s top ten in six statistical categories. I ranked first in the CACC for offensive rebounding (5.0/gm), third in overall rebounding (10.0/gm), fifth in field goal percentage (53.8%, 135-for-251), sixth in blocks (32, 1.33/gm), eighth in scoring (16.2/gm), and tenth in defensive rebounding (5.0/gm). I led the Griffins in all of those categories.
SENIOR (2011-2012)- After following a stellar junior season, I was selected as a Sporting News Pre-Season All-American. Chestnut Hill College was invited to play in the Disneyland Tip-off Tournament in Anaheim, California. The Disneyland Tip off Tourney level of competition was extremely high and many of the top Division II players competed at this tournament. The tourney ultimately produced the Division II National Champion, Western Washington University, whom Chestnut Hill College beat. I averaged 19.3 points-per-game (PPG) on a 59.4% (19-of-32) shooting percentage, while grabbing 7.3 rebounds-per-game (RPG), to lead Chestnut Hill College during a 2-1 weekend record at the Disney Tip-Off West Coast Classic and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team. In his second season as team co-captain, Comas was the teams second leading scorer (14.0 PPG) and leading rebounder (8.0) as the Griffin won a Division II school record eighteen games. Again, I was selected as a CACC All-Conference performer for the third straight season.
CAREER (2008-2012)
Over my four years, I participated in 109 games, while starting 88. I finished my career with 1326 points, good for 2nd most points in school history, and most points by a Division II player in school history. I finished as the leading rebounder and shot blocker in school history, grabbing 888 rebounds and blocking 118 shots.
After college, I played for the Washington Generals, the opposition team of the Harlem Globetrotters, during the 2012-2013 season. I traveled with the Globetrotters throughout the U.S, Canada, Egypt, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile & Argentina. I was coached by Sam Worthen, a former NBA player in the 1980s. I then signed a contract to play professionally in Le Puy en Velay, France, for the 2013-2014 season. While playing in France, I was not only a player but also the coach of the Under-15 club team. I ran two practices per week for the team and coached two games per month.

Typically my sessions will run about one hour long and will differ between each player. Before working with a player, I like to have a conversation with them about what exactly they would like to improve on so I can formulate a workout based on their needs.
My typical 1 on 1 session will be as follows:
x Min of light conditioning
x Min stretching
x Min form shooting
x Mins of skill work
x Mins of strength work
x Mins of footwork (speed and agility) ladder/cone/hurdles
x Mins of conditioning work
x Mins of shooting
x Mins of finishing
x Mins of light conditioning/stretching/cool-down

I will be using many shooting/skill/strength/conditioning/footwork and finishing drills that I myself have used at the collegiate level and I believe this would be greatly beneficial to any aspiring player.
