More About Coach Damian

Hello! I believe my cheerful, positive and enthusiastic attitude to be a strong asset in keeping people interested and excited about improving their game. Tennis became my passion after I decided that 2 years of collegiate football was enough for me. I joined Graceland University's top 20 NAIA tennis team as a walk-on practice partner and by the end of 3 years, became a team captain and co-assistant coach charged with improving the teams conditioning and facilitating a positive team dynamic. In the years after college, I have continued to train and play in tournaments. I'm in the process of getting my USTPA Coaching certification.

In high school in Augusta, Ga. I was one of just two 3-sport athletes at a 1500 student 4A school. I played football, basketball and baseball. When my family moved to Iowa, I was able to participate in 4 sports due to the summer baseball season. I was captain of both the baseball and football teams. I was an all conference running back and the ace pitcher for the baseball team. I also played #4 on the golf competed team and went to the Iowa state track meet as an 800 meter sprinter. I was recruited to play running-back for Graceland University and tasked as a punt and kick returner as a freshman. I was coaxed into trying out for the baseball team and was added to the team as a pitcher after 1 tryout. Ultimately playing two collegiate sports proved too time consuming and I left the baseball team after one season. I continue to play basketball, football, ultimate frisbee, rock-climbing and snowboarding. I also trained at a crossfit gym for 2 years in Chicago. I believe my experience and aptitude in many sports helps me to understand athletics on an advanced level.

It goes without saying that every player is different with different goals. After identifying aspects of the student's game that he/she would like to see some improvement in, we will set up specific drills to hone in on the necessary remedies. For kids, teaching a love for the game is best accomplished by not only improvement, but in having a fun time every time they step onto the court. For people looking to take their game to the next level, it is important for a coach make the necessary adjustments and make the player do what they don't want to do. This includes, conditioning and doing the things that are out of your comfort zone. Always, a positive, fun and encouraging session await my students. Unless otherwise requested, I intend to film many of the coach sessions in order to better serve my clients and so they can see their game from an outsiders perspective.

Client Reviews

My kids had a great time with Damian. He's fun and positive and the kids are looking forward to their next session with him.

Damian is a well skilled player and teacher. He works with my 9 year old boy and 7 year old girl 3-4 times a week. He keeps them interested in the session by switching up activities. Both of my kids games are improving and I can see him getting them to a competitive level within 6 months....Thanks Damian

I loved working with Damian; being a beginner, I was very nervous about my session but Damian made me feel great right from the start and I am very excited and looking forward for our next session.

Damian's passion for the sport and positive attitude really helped me get a lot out of our session. He was really encouraging and pushed me to my limits. Great Coach!
