More About Coach Cosmo
I played four years of Division 1 basketball. I attended prep school prior to recieving a full athletic scholatship to the Citadel in South Carolina. I started my senior year and half of the games my junior year. My brother plays professional basketball in Tokyo, Japan. I am also a NASM certified personal trainer.
I have experience training youger players and teammates. I was the guy who alway dragged my teammates or friends out to work on both my game and theirs.
I focus highly on fundamentals and guard skills. I like to develop a players ball handling skills and create scenarios that bring out their creativity and elusiveness. I strongly believe basketball is a physical game to a certain extent, then the rest is all about deveoping your skill set and how you use your skill set mentally and physically to dominate your opponent.
My biggest push for high school and middle school players is, conditioning through fundamentals and the ability to explode at any moment (first step, reaction time, and strong base/core). I was never the most athletic, but I always knew I had an advantage because I was always in better shape than my opponent, and I would react a split second faster than my opponent.
28 points 8 reb avg in high school.
Four year varsity letterman
First team all Ocean League, Sportsmanship award Ocean League (high school)
42 points against Team Odom AAU ball, and 34 against SoCal Allstars in spring tournament, games that earned me a full division one scholarship to The Citadel.
Sixth man freshman year College
Team Captain senior year College
Working with a new athlete I will always listen to their needs, assess their skills, then develop a workout plan. I will always implement conditioning through fundementals and skill work because being the most in shape on the court and the ability to stay balanced and under control at all times is more valuable than most players think, especially at the high school levels and younger.
I will use speed ladders, bands, weighted vest, and maybe even a parachute, to improve footwork, explosiveness, speed and power during each session.
