More About Coach Colton

I have coached Baseball and Softball at a number of different levels. I have worked with athletes of all ages in both a team environment and at individual levels. My specific specialties are catching, hitting, and defense.
I am a high school softball assistant coach at Ursuline Academy of Dallas working with girls ages 14-18.
I own and run my own select softball organization, coaching two teams athletes ages 12-15.
I have done private lessons for the past 4 years with youth softball and baseball athletes of all ages

I played collegiate baseball for Carl Albert State College first and then transferred to East Central University to finish my playing career. I was an all-state catcher at Sulphur High School.

A typical session for me focuses on technique and doing things at game speed.
Example Hitting Session
Warm up
- Jog
- Static Stretches
- Dynamic Stretches
- Bat Stretches
T - Work
In our first session I will evaluate and troubleshoot his/her swing and then adjust drill accordingly. Typically I do 2-3 T-Drills.
Soft Toss
I do soft toss to evaluate bat speed, trying to improve an athletes bat speed through the zone
Front Toss
I try and do at least 50-75 cuts of live front toss. I do a number of different approaches to this depending on what the athlete is struggling with:
Two Ball Drill for hand eye issues
Ladder Drill for timing issues
Big Ball drill to increase strength and drive through the ball
It is important to note that each athletes session will be different depending on where their weaknesses are.
