More About Coach Colleen

I've been coaching and playing field hockey for over 20 years. I played Division I and have coached at the Division III level in the United States. I have also coached and/or played in the Netherlands, England and Australia. I'm happy to help with game tactics, specific skills or overall fitness for the sport. I tailor my sessions to the athletes needs. We would first do some general skills testing so I have a good idea where your current skill level and game sense stand.

I'm happy to coach both one on one or in a group session as requested. And play as necessary to coach a skill or concept. Some athletes learn better via demos than descriptions.

I love the sport of field hockey and enjoy helping athletes take their game to the next level. Please get in touch with any specific questions you might have.

Coach Colleen is amazing! My daughter has never played Field Hockey, and over a few sessions Coach Colleen provided her with the skills and confidence to try out for her school team. And she made the team :)! Colleen’s positive and supportive energy enhances all of the talent and experience she brings to her coaching. In just four sessions, Coach Colleen reviewed the dynamics and concepts of the game, taught my daughter all stick and ball skills, practiced these skills through creative and instructional drills, evaluated my daughter’s playing style, provided her with guidance on best field position, ran her through standard protocol for a field hockey practice with running/warm ups/drills, and did all of this with a friendly, supportive and positive coaching style. She provided homework in between sessions to help my daughter better understand the structure of the game as well as drills to practice core skills sets (like dribbling, passing/receiving, pushing/pulling). Colleen was a fantastic coach, and we highly recommend her to players at any level. She is awesome!!!

I reached out to Colleen to get prepared for the collegiate level and after the first session I can say that I will be able to get there. One on one’s are great with her because you get to pick what you want to work on individually and she notices the little details that make a difference while doing drills. I definitely recommend anyone going into college or already in college to reach out to Colleen if you want to improve your game.

We have only done two sessions with Coach Colleen but so far we are extremely satisfied. She is working with my young daughter to build basic skills, teach the game and make it fun. Colleen has put together two very well thought out session plans incorporating what she thinks is most important plus everything I asked for from the beginning. In other words she is flexible and a great listener. As for knowledge of the sport... there is no question that Colleen holds all of the expertise one would expect from a professional field hockey coach.

As I said we are still early in our working relationship with Colleen but it has been a pleasure and my daughter can't wait for her third session. Highly recommend.
