More About Coach Cody

I have several years of experience coaching and training athletes with a focus on individual skill development, game awareness, and confidence on the field. My background includes working with players at recreational, competitive club, and high school levels, helping them progress in both technical skills and overall performance.

I typically work with athletes between the ages of 7–18, focusing on developing strong fundamentals at younger ages and more advanced technical, tactical, and positional training with older players. My approach combines one-on-one instruction, personalized drills, and game-situation scenarios so players can directly apply what they learn in training to real matches.

Whether an athlete is just starting out, preparing for club tryouts, or aiming to play at the varsity level, I tailor sessions to their goals and ability level.

I have a strong playing background that has shaped the way I coach today. I competed at the high school level and then collegiate level. I was a 4 year starter at Station Camp on the varsity team where I gained valuable experience. I also developed consistency, discipline, and leadership on and off the field. I then had the opportunity to be a 4 year starter at Tusculum College (DII) where I learned what it takes to perform at a high level consistently (lessons I pass on to athletes I train).

During my career, I , and had the opportunity to compete against top-level competition. These experiences not only helped me grow as a player but also gave me the perspective to train athletes who want to push their own limits.

My background as a player allows me to relate to athletes, set realistic goals, and share insights from firsthand experience in high-level competition.

In a typical session, athletes can expect a structured, high-energy training environment that is tailored to their individual needs and goals. I usually begin with a dynamic warm-up to prepare the body and reduce the risk of injury. From there, we move into technical drills that focus on the fundamentals — such as first touch, passing accuracy, ball control under pressure, and dribbling in tight spaces.

Once the player is sharp technically, I incorporate position-specific exercises and game-like scenarios that challenge decision-making, awareness, and movement off the ball. For attackers, that might include finishing drills and creating space; for defenders, 1v1 situations and tackling technique.

Throughout the session, I provide constant feedback, encouragement, and adjustments so the player leaves not only with improved skills but also a clear understanding of how to apply them in games.
