More About Coach Cliff

I have thirty-three years of head basketball coaching experience (boys & girls) during forty-one years of teaching high school in New York City (Martin Luther H.S.), Chicago (Luther H.S. South), Chicago suburbs (H.D.Jacobs H.S.) and New Canaan, CT. (St. Luke’s head JV girls). St. Luke's JVs won 2016 FAA JV tournament. I am experienced at running general camps for boys and girls, fifth grade through high school. Two summers I specifically ran a shooting camp for middle school and high school.
I currently have teaching certificates for Illinois and New York.

Concordia University in Nebraska I was a member of the basketball and baseball team for four years. At At Concordia High School I was part of four state championship teams, one basketball, two baseball and one football. This became a great platform on which to build my coaching career. I am Coach of the Year in Illinois (’80) as a result of winning a state basketball championship. District and Local Coach of the Year honors were also awarded over the years.

Sessions would include: specific instruction for shooting form, (feet, knees, waist, shooting hand, none shooting hand, shooting pocket, through your face and thrust). Work would begin near the basket. Free throws would be emphasized to improve results at all shot location. Offensive footwork would include shooting, pivot & passing, self-screens, receiving a pass, and rebounding. Court awareness, vision and game understanding will be included.

Coach Cliff’s sessions have been very beneficial to my sons skills’ development. He identified the areas where my son needed improvement and focused on these areas during the sessions. He also provided a plan so my son would practice at home and we have already seen improvements making my son more confident in the court.

Coach Cliff, was very nice and very knowledgeable of basketball and he explained each drill in detailed to my son which my son pick up what Coach Cliff taught him very quickly. My son really liked his coach and wants/will do more sessions.

I arranged a session with Coach Cliff for my 8 YO son. The focus was on shooting technique and Coach Cliff did an excellent job in using a bunch of different approaches to try to have the boy use the proper form for shooting. Coach Cliff was really encouraging and engaging throughout the entire session and my son definitely benefited from it. I would recommend Coach Cliff without any reservations.

My daughter had a great time. She said that the lesson was very detailed and that helped out greatly.

My 12-yr-old son just completed a 5-session package with Coach Doll. Two thumbs way up!! In the span of the five sessions, Cliff taught my son the technical aspects of shooting, resulting in significant improvement in his shooting form. My son also was also able to add several moves to create space to his offensive arsenal, as well as how to move efficiently on defense to minimize the chances of getting beaten.

Coach Doll was a consummate professional. He sent reminders ahead of each session, was early and prepared for very session, and followed up with constructive feedback after each. I would highly recommend Coach Doll to any parent looking to supplement their child’s basketball education.

Coach Cliff is a great teacher and enjoyable to work with. He communicates keys very clearly and makes training challenging but rewarding. He helped improve my son's shooting form and technique noticeably in just two sessions, and we look forward to working with Coach Cliff again.

Coach Cliff has been a big help to my boys. Both of them have learned fundamentals from Coach Cliff that they hadn’t learned in several years in the town league. He’s a great communicator and makes the sessions very fun for all!

Great technical coach. Captures the kids attention. Nice demeanor to motivate kids.

Coach Doll is very helpful. I instantly learned many useful moves to work on the games.

My son enjoyed his session with Coach Doll and learned a lot of great tips

Excellent session with Coach Cliff. He really knows the game and how to teach it. Helped my son with just one session. We will definitely be booking more.

Coach Doll was very helpful and his experience in coaching was prevalent. My son learned a lot in just an hour, we'll be going back again very soon!

My son really enjoyed working with Coach Cliff. Very knowledgeable and calm. My son can't wait for another session.

Coach Cliff definitely knows the game of basketball and he taught my 11-year-old son an incredible amount of core fundamentals in just 3 sessions. My son is a pretty good player for his age, but definitely needed to take a step back and work on footwork, using his left hand, shooting technique, defensive position, etc. Coach Cliff helped him quite a bit with those things and I highly recommend him.

Both boys really enjoyed their 1st session. I really liked Coach Cliff's personalize folder for each of them which included skills sheets, good form habits and drill sheets.

We are thrilled to work with Coach Doll. He has a kind and patient teaching style, and has had an immediate impact to my daughter's shooting accuracy after only 2 sessions. He is helping her to understand both offense and defense as a post player. I am excited to see her confidence build as we continue to work with Coach Doll. We are very thankful to have found him!

Coach Cliff has been great!! Our 16-year-old son - with no formal b'ball training before Coach Cliff - went from 0% free throw shooting to 70% free throw shooting, after only 8 sessions. Offense and defense have made remarkable progress as well. Coach Cliff is kind, generous, very talented, and patient. An all-around wonderful man. Just wish he would never go on vacation!!

Coach Doll was a major part of my success as a basketball player. His continued emphasis on shooting in high school helped me reach the 1,000 point club my Junior year. I was an All - Conference selection for four years and team MVP three years. I was also a contributing member of Jacobs High Schools first girls team to make it down State my Senior year. In 2015 I became a member of the Jacobs Athletic Hall of Fame. Playing at Loras College for four years I became the third on the all-time scoring list with 1600 points, first in 3-point field goals (43%) with 237, and second at free throw percentage at 79%. College honors were: All-Conference ’05, ’06, ’07, ’08. All-West Region in ‘07, ’08 and top six in conference scoring for all four years. I worked shooting camps with Coach Doll for both middle school age and high school. Secure his help if you are serious about gaining an understanding of the game.
I met Coach Cliff Doll when I was 14 years of age as I wanted to play for him at Luther South High, a School in which he turned into a household name for hoops in early 80’s and the 1980 State Championship team. That 1980 State Title produced Chicago hoops legends Mike Conley Sr., Tony Martin, and Pierre Cooper. I wanted to be a part of this program that Coach Doll orchestrated....
