More About Coach Clayton

- I have coached youth to high school level athletes during my time as an NCAA DII baseball player. The players I have helped are now playing for college teams throughout the country as both pitchers and position players. I would prefer to focus on coaching youth baseball players to help build strong fundamentals to succeed at High School and beyond.
- I have in-depth experience with the college recruiting process at both the DI and DII levels and can provide extensive insight on how to successfully navigate this process to make sure you make the right decision for your career.
- On top of my coaching experience, I have been coached and trained by elite level coaches at Northwest Diamond Sports, Portland Baseball Club, Dave Wong (Ex- Oregon State Assistant Coach), Kyle Body at Driveline Baseball in Washington & Arizona, and more.

Experience:
- 4 year varsity student-athlete; maintained a 3.84 GPA and graduated Summa Cum Laude.
- led 120+ teammates over 4 years, achieved 3 conference championships, 3 regional berths, 1 world series appearance, and an accumulated 141 wins during my tenure.
- Played for the Wareham Gatemen in the prestigious Cape Cod Summer Baseball League.
- Gold medal winner for the 2013 Maccabiah games in Israel

The structure of each session is dependent upon age, skill level, time, and number of sessions completed. However, all hitting, fielding, and pitching sessions would begin with a 5-10 minute dynamic warm-up to assure the clients are warm to avoid injuries.

Hitting:
- Tee work/dry swings (5-10 min) to work on basic fundamentals and developing a consistent swing. This will also allow me to see what needs to be improved upon before moving to front/side toss and live BP. It is important to have a strong understanding of the clients swing, mechanics, and approach.
- Front/side toss (10-15 min), which can involve a variety of drills depending on what needs to be worked on. However, the focus of front toss is to work on basic fundamentals, develop a consistent swing, and see ball flight, which can help determine what adjustments need to be made to improve.
- Live BP (depending on age & level), the goal of this is the same as above.

Fielding:
- Throwing warm-up (5-10 min), which can include basic band work to educate the client on how to take care of their arm to build up strength and avoid injuries in the future.
- Fielding drills (10 min), which is focused on footwork and fielding mechanics so the client can understand what the correct approach is to fielding and throwing the ball
- Live ground balls (10-15 min)

Pitching:
- Throwing warm-up (5-10 min), which can include basic band work to educate the client on how to take care of their arm to build up strength and avoid injuries in the future.
- Dry work (5-10 min), which can include a variety of drills (ie. towel drill) to create consistent mechanics that can be repeatable when we move to a bullpen or flat ground work.
- Bullpen/Flat ground (10 min)

Clayton knows his stuff and is great at finding what helps a kid make the right connection during instruction.

Coach Clayton did a great job with my son in our first session. He was knowledgeable and passionate about baseball. My son was comfortable with his training style so we booked more sessions. Excited to see the progress my son will make after working with Coach Clayton.

Clayton was thorough and great to work with. My kids loved working with him!

Very professional!

Clayton is a very talented former collegiate baseball player who demonstrated excellence on the baseball diamond. Gelfand was an exquisite two-way player who always strived to be better than he was the day before. His vast knowledge of the game and his curiosity to constantly expand his way of learning makes him a great mentor and a keen student of the game.
Clayton, played baseball at a high-level in college. He was an All-American at Chico State, which is a dominant D2 level school and had the rare opportunity as a D2 athlete to play in the prestigious Cape Code Summer Baseball League. He has great knowledge for the game and communicates that knowledge for young players well. Players who are willing to commit to a training program will learn a lot from working with Clayton
