More About Coach Christian

I have played ball at the collegiate level and with summer college organizations. I currently coach travel baseball for the Stars and Stripes Patriots located in Columbia, SC. My teams are 10-13 year olds but I provide lessons typically to 8-18 year olds. I pitched and played the field so I can coach all positions. Primarily I work with many kids on their pitching mechanics and provide the building blocks to increasing arm velocity. It is my firm belief to not only coach mechanics but provide character values to a player not only competitively but in life.

I played college baseball at a very competitive program in West Point, Georgia called Point University. We played in the NAIA division against the top teams in the country. I was a starting pitcher and when I wasn't on the mound I played primarily shortstop and center field. I won the gold glove in college as a center fielder and made the all conference team as a starting pitcher. I was looked at as a pitcher by the Baltimore Orioles before becoming a coach.

Usually I try to push a 5 lesson plan. Each lesson I video to locate mishaps in mechanics as well as show growth in week to week training. With pitching and hitting I like to focus on different areas in their mechanics week to week. For instance with hitters I would start off working on their lower half ( balance, a proper load, shifting weight, and explosion through their hips), then move to using their hands and being a balanced hitter while improving bat speed, then swing plane and creating backspin on a baseball and so forth. Pitching follows the same ideals as far as week one working on balance, drive, and explosion using the legs. The following weeks include arm angle, back, pitch instruction, and managing the game on the mound as a pitcher.
