More About Coach Cheznee

I am currently going in my 6th year of coaching high school volleyball. I am the Varsity coach for my lady Lions at Langtree Charter Academy. I have signed several volleyball players to play at the collegiate level. I have one who has currently committed to UNC Chapel Hill . In addition to the high school, I am also the middle school coach for my school district. I have been working with athletes for several years both on skills and with footwork. I have coached three years of junior olympic volleyball. I worked with Race City, Denver Optimist, ICstars and now currently working alongside of the owner of Lake Norman Club. Normally, I work with athletes from ages 8-16, because some parents just want their child to learn the basic skills, while other parents want to see their child critique the skills to better their game. I am a certified personal trainer, so being able to work with athletes is the best part because you can work on skills as well as agility and footwork.

I played all throughout high school at the varsity level for Mooresville High School, then went on to play for Bluefield College, in Virginia. I was a starting setter, and finished my career with Top Female Athlete, MVP, and was honored my sophomore year because I lead the nation in our division for setting stats. I do still currently play in leagues to continue competing and still find myself enjoying the sport.

Normally, I will introduce myself and how I like to see things performed, but I will go through each skill and assess what we need to focus on each session at a time. We will always discuss critiquing a movement because it is part of the progression stage. I am always making sure the athlete understands the reasoning for new techniques or movements. I will also teach the athlete how to anticipate and read the game of volleyball. There is more than just skills to the game, you must be away of the defense and their line up.

Coach Cheznee was great! She was full of energy and very positive. She assessed both of my daughters through observations and gave them positive feedback and pointers on how they can improve. She also talked to each one of them to find out what they needed to work on to improve their game. She was well prepared and the facility was great. I saw improvements after one session.
