More About Coach Chelsea
have experience coaching softball across a range of age groups and competitive levels. I have spent significant time working with athletes between the ages of 12 and 18, focusing on skill development, fundamentals, and game strategy. In addition, I have coaching experience at the junior college level, where I assisted with athlete development, practice preparation, and supporting overall team performance.
My coaching experience includes working with Pensacola State College as well as coaching at the high school level with Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory. These opportunities allowed me to work with athletes at different stages of development while reinforcing discipline, teamwork, and strong fundamentals.
I am comfortable and enthusiastic about working with athletes of all ages, and I enjoy helping players grow both in their skills and confidence in the game. My goal as a coach is to create a positive and structured environment that supports development, accountability, and a love for the sport.
I competed as a collegiate softball athlete, where I was part of a national championship–winning program. My experience as a college athlete allowed me to compete at a high level while balancing the demands of academics, training, and competition. Through this experience, I developed strong discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills that continue to influence how I coach and train athletes today . I also earned First team when playing college ball.
In addition to my collegiate playing experience, I earned numerous MVP awards during my travel softball career and was a six-time First Team selection in the Sun Sentinel High School Softball section. These accomplishments reflect my dedication to the sport and the high level of competition I competed in throughout my athletic career. These experiences have allowed me to apply my competitive background to help develop athletes’ skills, build confidence, and improve overall performance.
My athletic background and continued involvement in the sport have shaped my coaching philosophy, which emphasizes strong fundamentals, a competitive mindset, and helping athletes reach their full potential both on and off the field.
A typical softball training session with me is structured, purposeful, and tailored to the athlete’s specific goals while also keeping the environment positive and enjoyable.
We usually begin with a dynamic warm-up and throwing progression to properly prepare the body and build arm strength. These progressions focus on improving throwing mechanics, arm care, and developing stronger, more accurate throws regardless of the athlete’s defensive position.
If the focus of the session is defense, we will move into position-specific drills designed to improve footwork, reaction time, glove work, and overall quickness. I emphasize fundamentals and proper technique while incorporating drills that simulate game-like situations so athletes can build confidence and consistency in their defensive skills.
If the session is focused on hitting, we start by evaluating the athlete’s hitting mechanics and overall approach at the plate. We discuss their strengths, areas for improvement, and how they approach different pitching situations. From there, we work through drills that reinforce proper swing mechanics, timing, and bat control. I believe it is important for athletes to understand not only how to swing, but also how to develop a strong approach and adjust during competition.
Throughout every session, I aim to create a structured plan for improvement while also making sure the athlete stays engaged and enjoys the process. My goal is for athletes to leave each session feeling more confident, having learned something new, and continuing to develop their skills while maintaining a genuine love for the game.
