More About Coach Cassie

I have coached soccer camps both in Colorado and at the University of Florida. In the 2018-2019 season after I graduated college I coached two U12 girls teams at Real Colorado Edge. Throughout the off season (winter and summer) I have coached small group sessions as well as individuals for middle school aged girls and boys and high school aged boys.

I began playing soccer when I was 7 and competitively when I was 9 years old. I was a Colorado State Cup MVP in 2013 and began my collegiate soccer career at the University of Florida (UF) in 2014. After recovering from injuries through high school and college, I worked my way to a starting position my senior year at UF. As a gator I was a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll all 4 years of my collegiate career. Throughout my time at UF we made appearances each year in the NCAA tournament making it to the Elite 8 in 2014 and 2017 and the sweet sixteen in 2015 and 2016. In 2015 we were SEC Tournament and Conference Champions and in 2016 we were SEC Tournament Champions.

I like to cater each session to the player(s) I’m working with. I typically like to start with asking a player’s goal and then creating steps they can control to help them reach that goal. Depending on the players capabilities we may be expanding from basic foot work to how to take looks and keep their head up etc. If the player feels they do footwork enough on their own or at soccer practice we may be focusing more on long ball technique vs driven ball vs a chip. If trapping air balls with all body parts and heading is a skill a player feels uncomfortable with we wiIl do multiple variations of trapping to build their confidence and comfortability in this area. I like to have elements of technical skills, agility, passing, field awareness, ball striking, and fun but each session can be weighted heavier on one of those aspects depending on the player and their goals. My main goal as a coach is to have the player building their love for the game through their skills and feeling more confident than when they started. Additionally, I like to come to player’s games in order to better help them decipher what areas they could work on, support them, and see their progress translate into a game setting.
