More About Coach Casey

Hi my name is Casey Ryan and I just graduated from Beloit College with a B.A. in Psychology and now I am a graduate assistant for the women's lacrosse team at Wittenberg University. I am passionate about lacrosse and have experiences in all aspects of it. I have played, coached, and refereed several different levels of lacrosse and that background knowledge of the game will help me be a well-rounded coach. I have refereed for Lakeshore Lacrosse Club in Chicago, IL while in high school and in College I coached the Vibe club team and I was also a lacrosse coach at Iroquois Springs sleep away camp. Because of the knowledge I have of the game, I can offer well prepared drills and overall practices. I will be able to help players grow in the sport and help them pursue their goals. I will be a non-biased coach and treat all level of players equally. The experience of coaching all age levels is a great benefit I can bring to the table. No matter what skill a girl is trying to learn, I will help them gain a deeper understanding of the skill and help them master it.

I have been playing lacrosse for about 11 years now and I played throughout high school and college. I played as a defender/midfielder all four years as a starter. I was also captain of my college and high school teams and have also earned all 2nd team all conference.

Throughout a session I will always have my players warm up and stretch so the athletes will have injury prevention. For drills I will see what they would like to focus on for that session if it is defense, draws, crease rolls, or anything they would like to do. With that in mind stick skills are always key in becoming a great lacrosse player, so after the warm up we will to stick skill work for a while and then get into drills. Each client will go through a warm up, stick skills, footwork, and then start what they would like to work on for the day. I will always ask the client to come up with things they would like to work on for the next week so I can make a practice plan that caters towards their needs, but that also push them to become a better lacrosse player overall.
