More About Coach Caleb

Served as Auxiliary Coach/Bullpen Catcher for USA Baseball's National Team ('05 and '06) - our squad included many current MLB players (and a few potential future hall of famers!) such as David Price, Jake Arrieta, JP Arencibia, Pedro Alvarez, Julio Borbon, Sean Doolittle, Todd Frazier, Zack Cozart, Darwin Barney, Ross Detwiler, and Max Scherzer, among others.

Also, served as Assistant Coach for each of Northeastern University (2009) and Babson College (2010).

Served as Bullpen Catcher for the New York Yankees ('07-'09) (worked with MLB players such as Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettite, Dellin Betances, Mark Melancon, David Robertson, Alex Rodriguez, Carl Pavano, Mike Mussina, Joba Chamberlain, Francisco Cervelli, and many others).

Served as Bullpen Catcher for the Pawtucket Red Sox (AAA) ('05 and '06) (worked with MLB players such as Jon Lester, Dustin Pedroia and Brandon Moss).

Served as Auxiliary Coach/Bullpen Catcher for USA Baseball's National Team ('05 and '06). Won FISU World Championship with Team USA in Havanna, Cuba (2006).

Played Division One college baseball at West Virginia University and Northeastern University.

My areas of focus are primarily pitchers and catchers (but I am happy to work with other position players / hitters looking to improve their game). Initially, I like to get a sense for each player's (1) ability level and (2) individual goals as a ballplayer. Depending on the player's chosen position(s), we'll go through a number of physical drills to improve key fundamentals, but we will also spend some time talking through the "mental" side of baseball, in an effort to give the player a competitive edge among peers and help him/her get to the next level (i.e. making a high school varsity team, getting a scholarship or walking onto a college squad, or playing pro ball). The mental side of the game is not stressed nearly enough as part of a player's development; in my experience, a sound/well-thought-out mental approach is the difference between a good player and a GREAT player. With a threshold level of physical ability, a ballplayer can take enormous strides and surpass his/her peers simply by out-thinking them! I'll give all players easy-to-use physical and mental techniques and drills that they can do on their own between coaching sessions. Our sessions will be high-energy and will physically and mentally challenge the player.
