More About Coach Brooke

I have over five years of experience coaching and training athletes across a wide range of ages and skill levels. I spent two years coaching at the high school level, where I was responsible not only for skill development and team strategy, but also for fostering leadership, accountability, and sportsmanship in a competitive environment.

In addition to my team coaching background, I’ve spent the past three years as a private instructor, working one-on-one and in small groups with athletes ranging from 6 to 18 years old. In this role, I’ve developed individualized training programs tailored to each athlete’s age, position, and performance goals, focusing on both skill refinement and athletic development.

Currently, I continue to work as a private trainer, helping young athletes elevate their game through technical instruction, strength and conditioning, and mental preparation. My experience spans beginner through advanced levels, and I’m passionate about helping each athlete unlock their full potential.

While I don’t currently hold formal certifications, my approach is grounded in proven coaching methodologies and current sports performance research.

A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, I bring over two decades of experience and passion for the game of softball and baseball—both as a former athlete and now as a dedicated coach. Prior to stepping into my coaching role, I spent 20 years actively involved in the sport, competing at the high school, collegiate, and elite travel levels.

Throughout my playing career, I excelled as a pitcher, first baseman, and power hitter, earning a reputation for my versatility, leadership on the field, and ability to perform under pressure. My offensive and defensive contributions were consistently recognized, including:

Highest Batting Average – Marion County (IN)

Highest Fielding Percentage – Marion County (IN)

Slugger of the Year – Marion County (IN)

These honors reflect not only my individual skill but also my commitment to preparation, game intelligence, and team success. Whether commanding the circle, anchoring first base, or stepping into the batter’s box, I took pride in competing at a high level and leading by example.

Now, I’m excited to bring that same energy, discipline, and deep understanding of the game into my coaching—helping young athletes grow, compete, and fall in love with the game just like I did.

🥎 Softball Training Session Plan: What to Expect

Every training session is structured with purpose, progression, and energy. Whether working one-on-one or in small groups, I tailor each workout to the athlete’s position, skill level, goals, and season (pre-, in-, or off-season). Here's a look at how I typically run a session:

General Session Structure (45-75 minutes)

Dynamic Warm-Up & Mobility (10–15 min)

Movement prep specific to softball: band work, shoulder activation, lower-body agility
Emphasis on injury prevention and proper mechanics

Skill-Specific Work (40–50 min)
Focus rotates by session or is customized to athlete’s primary areas (pitching, hitting, base running, catching)

Skill Area Breakdowns
1. Pitching (Windmill Mechanics & Command)

Drills: K-drill, snap progression, resistance band work, mirror work, stride length drills
Focus: Proper sequencing (legs, hips, arm), release point consistency, spin development (fastball, changeup, drop)
Goal: Build arm strength, improve pitch command, increase velocity safely

2. Batting (Power, Mechanics & Situational Hitting)

Drills: Tee work (inside/outside pitches), front toss, timing drills, live BP
Focus: Barrel control, lower-half engagement, pitch tracking, contact point discipline
Extras: Slugging percentage development, launch angle education, mental approach at the plate

3. Base Running (Explosiveness, Reads & IQ)

Drills: Sprint start mechanics, turn drills, reaction reads, sliding technique
Focus: First-step quickness, base awareness, situational running (tagging, delayed steals)
Goal: Turn good athletes into aggressive, smart base runners who create scoring chances

4. Catching (Receiving, Blocking & Leadership)

Drills: Receiving drills with zones, block and recover, pop-up footwork, quick release throws
Focus: Glove-to-throw transition, framing low pitches, vocal command behind the plate
Goal: Build confidence, control the game tempo, and create a pitcher-friendly zone

Session Wrap-Up & Coaching Points (5–10 min)

Review of strengths and growth areas
Set homework or at-home drills
Reinforce mental toughness, confidence, and game IQ

Philosophy:
I coach with intensity, clarity, and patience—making sure athletes not only develop strong fundamentals but also build confidence and love for the game. Every rep has a purpose, and every athlete leaves the session knowing they improved.
