More About Coach Brian
Brian has a very diverse athletic, coaching and training background. He started competitive swimming at the age of seven; added running in cross country and track and field events during middle and high school. After graduation, he switched to mostly swimming, cycling, running and weightlifting to stay in shape.
While managing a running shoe store, he studied to become a Certified Running Coach (Road Runners Club of America) and Level 1 Track & Field Coach (USA Track and Field). He led group runs and even became the head cross country of a local high school.
In order to combine his athletic experiences, he started to compete in triathlons. This passion for the sport led to his becoming an official at USA Triathlon and Ironman events. As he was training and completing many triathlons, including three Ironman events, he became a USA Triathlon Certified Coach and an Ironman Certified Coach.
After retiring from full time work, Brian became a Certified Personal Trainer and a Certified Group Fitness Instructor (American Council on Exercise) and a Certified Lifeguard (American Red Cross). Using the skills and knowledge that he has gained, he helps youth and adult clients reach their goals after assessing their current fitness levels and skills.
While an age group and high school swimmer, I won many events and even set a state record. As an adult I have completed 17 half marathons (including 6 in 6 months), 4 marathons, 50 triathlons (including 3 Ironmans), and over 20 century bike rides.
A typical session will include a warmup, skill drills, an endurance or speed portion, a cool down and stretching. This agenda is used for swimming, running, cycling and gym workouts.
