More About Coach Brian
I have trained a variety of athletes with a primary focus on indoor and beach volleyball players. With Indoor Volleyball, I was a 4 yr., scholarship athlete at San Diego State University. I was trained at all hitting positions as well as setting. I have coached at the club, high school, junior college, and collegiate level. I have run multi-day, indoor camps and clinics. I am well versed in developing setters, all hitting positions, and proper passing and digging techniques.
As a Pro Beach Athlete for 5 yrs., I also coached professionally on the AVP tour for 2 yrs. As the Asst. Coach for the Women's Beach Volleyball program, at Florida State University, I programed our year round Strength and Conditioning schedule, was Dir. of Camps and Clinics, and coached at the National Championships fours years straight. I was selected to coach with the USA Beach Junior National team. Part of my responsibilities was to train juniors athletes at all positions, travel the country, participating in talent ID camps, and coach at the Olympic Training Center in San Diego, CA.. As the Head Coach of the Costa Rican National Beach Volleyball program, I had the privilege of traveling internationally to the World Beach Volleyball Championships held in the Netherlands.
I have successfully trained every level (beginners thru Olympians) and ages 8 thru 50+ yrs. old in beach volleyball. I am Impact certified thru USA Beach and Indoor and a Level CAP 1 in Beach Volleyball. I have the ability to train up to 10 athletes on the beach and up to 4 athletes indoor. Part of my coaching philosophy is to get as many ball touches as possible and provide feedback through out the exercises and drills. I pride myself in patience and am NOT a yeller. I am 80% positive and choose my words very wisely. My practices are well organized with minimal downtime and maximum impact. Training should be fun yet focused!

We loved the first session he did with my daughter. The volleyball knowledge he shared with her not only with words, but with action. Showing her the movement or position of what needed to be corrected. He had an easy way of explaining things and the information was solid. Now I find myself saying those things to my daughter. Looking forward to doing more sessions with Coach Brian.

Julia Daum (Testimonial)
Over the course of the past 3 years, I have gotten to know Brian as he began his Junior Beach Volleyball program. Brian is one of the most energetic and hard working people I have met. He has an inspiring passion for his sport and for mentoring athletes to grow not just in their sport but as responsible young adults. He is incredibly enthusiastic with young athletes but also understands how to encourage them to focus on the task at hand. I was an elite athlete growing up and am now the parent of two middle and high school students that are serious about their athletic endeavors. Through the years, I have been exposed to many, many coaches with many different styles of coaching and motivation techniques. I can honestly say that Brian Corso is the best I have EVER met. I hate having to write this as it means that he is leaving us but our loss is your immeasurable gain. Brian’s coaching is extremely technical. With his background in Kinesiology, he understands the biomechanics of movement but more than that, he is able to articulate how to effectively perform these movements in a way that his athletes, many middle and high school students, can understand and apply. That age of growth and development can often be awkward but Brian is able to create training exercises that allow their muscles to develop while still making it fun. Even more importantly, he helps his athletes to strengthen their bodies safely so as to reduce potential for injuries. That is incredibly important as many young athletes do not know their limits. In addition to his incredible coaching of technique, Brian is just as adept at teaching the mental aspect of the sport. With many of his juniors players being middle and high school girls, it is easy to imagine how tumultuous the emotions can be with this age group. Brian is able to teach in a way that is always positive. I have never once heard him raise his voice or to be negative to any player. He has a way of even making criticism sound like an opportunity to improve as opposed to being a mistake. His enthusiasm for his sport and obvious love of life is so infectious, that even on your worst day, it energizes you want to do more. His passion for coaching and developing young athletes is apparent.
