More About Coach Brent

***UPDATED FOR FEBRUARY DATES***

I have practices Monday-Friday from 3:30-6 pm and Saturdays from 10-12. Weekends I will be available for lessons.

In March I will have no availability March 1st-13th and March 17th-21st.

I have over 5 years of experience in training and coaching athletes. As a college coach, my schedule can be demanding, so please allow for some time to be worked into my schedule and contact me as soon as possible for your lessons. I have been a coach with youth baseball camps, High School baseball camps and the University of Northwestern baseball camps. I was also proud to work with the Joe Mauer family baseball camps over the years.

My coaching and training positions with a variety of camps and clinics have helped me to focus on teaching proper mechanics in pitching and hitting while utilizing film as a key tool to study. After being sidelined by injury as a baseball player for Bethel College, I became a student coach and helped implement programs that are still used today and have helped grow the successful program which included specific exercises for the athletes.

The specific drills I learned while training with scouts, as well as through my own research, will be incorporated into the programs that I develop for each individual athlete, including optical focal training for pitch recognition and specific pitching drills developed for the individual. I work with all age groups and can also teach slap hitting to softball players.

I am available 7 days a week until the college baseball season starts practice in February. I strictly train at the Batting Cages of MN in Edina or Central Middle School Dome. The Batting Cages of MN does charge a $30 rental fee for 1 hour. I will always pay for the first initial lesson and every other fee after that. The only forms of payment allowed at either of the locations are paying by cash or check.

I drive over 120 miles daily, so I am sorry if you are unable to make it to any of these locations.

During the fall, my schedule can be somewhat demanding. I coach Monday-Thursday and have Friday-Sunday off during September and October. I will update my schedule in the Spring.

I had the honor to playing in the Minnesota State High School Football Championship in 2004 with Wayzata High School. Coached a Mendota Heights Youth Baseball team to their first ever birth in the State Tournament. Helped coach the University of Northwestern to a 14-2 Conference record.

Athletes seek my guidance to help them improve their skills. I focus on cleaning up ‘moving parts’ and instill sound fundamentals. I take the time to sit down with them and discuss what they see as their strengths and weaknesses to determine specifically what they need to improve upon. I then develop a training regimen for tailored for their individual needs, as no two athletes are alike. Tailoring each program for the individual allows them to focus their time and energy on improving their weaknesses rather than wasting effort on programs that merely maintain their strengths. My job is to help them turn weak elements in their game to strengths while helping them to better understand the game itself.

I begin each program with personal one on one instruction that is reinforced by specific drills they can perform on their own. I also provide athletes with a conditioning program that will make them stronger athletes. Film study is and important tool in my program to break down the mechanics of what they do well and what I can provide programs for to improve their mechanics. Visual learning is a very effective way for athletes to see their progress.

I can help athletes to reach their full potential and take their skills beyond what their talent level provides for them. I take the time to discuss my philosophy with athletes and my conditioning and mechanics drills not only help them to be successful, they help assure that they do not lose valuable time or end potential careers due to injury. Whether they need my assistance to improve their skills in hitting or pitching, each athlete will benefit from my understanding of proper mechanics and the subtle changes that will take their game to the next level.

For online training, I will record video with a voice over for my notes. We will also communicate on the phone about making certain adjustments.

Thank you for working with Blake and his hitting form!

Coach Brent did a great job with my son. I Highly recommend Brent.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful our experience was with Brent. He is so enthusiastic and supportive of our son. But his encouragement goes beyond baseball. He uses phrases like "trust yourself " and "you know you have this" which can be applied to other situations. His coaching style is effective without being intimidating. You will not regret working with Brent, he is amazing!. Our son cannot wait to go back.

I have 2 sons that love the sport of baseball, so I reached out to Brent to assist with getting them ready for the upcoming season. I noticed a huge improvement in their ability after the first session! He taught them better techniques in their throwing and hitting, and they were hitting and throwing harder. He was a very positive person to both my sons and they really enjoyed the session. In fact, they can't wait for the next one! We will definitely be using Brent in the future!

Coach Brent is amazing. We have had only one session so far with him and he worked hard with my son and gave him some great tips. I'm so glad that we have more scheduled with him. Brent is very knowledgeable!

Coach Brent was great working with our son. He was easy to work with and did a great job teaching fundamentals. We'd definitely recommend him.

Good coach!

We're excited to schedule our next one!

He is very knowledgeable and was able improve my sons batting with one session.

Coach Brent is very knowledgeable and takes the time to get to know the player. Gave detailed feedback on my son's swing and stance that made a remarkable difference just after one lesson. Love that he is a great communicator with the player and parent.

Coach Brent - very knowledgeable and willing to work on whatever was needed. Lots of great feedback and examples of things to work on. Extremely polite and helpful. A great experience and looking forward to more.

Coach Brent was a great coach, my son said it was very informative, helpful, and even fun! Looking forward to the next session.

Coach Brent is awesome. The improvement in my son's game in just two sessions has been phenomenal. He knows what he's talking about, his drills are simple and on point, and the results are impressive. He's great with kids and I'd recommend him without reservation.

Brent has a great ability to build credibility and trust with our son. After years of the same coaches it is a refreshing change that has re-charged the winds of enthusiasm and drive for our player.

The first thing Brady said, when he got in the car was, "That was fun!" We were very impressed!

Great job!

Coach Brent did a great job. He was able to quickly identify flaws in my son's technique through video analysis and created drills for my son to use to correct his technique. There was a noticeable difference after just one practice and we look forward to many more sessions.

Professional and polite. Coach Brent came ready with various equipment & prepared with iPad to video my son. He zeroed on where he needed improvement and encouraged him as well by pointing out his strengths. Already in this game today, my son's is doing (and looking ) 100% better at bat. We look forward to future lessons with coach Brent.

Great coach... My son's game saw a huge improvement after just one session! And more importantly, Brent's advice will help keep his arm healthy... Both of my boys are looking forward to the next lesson!

Since Friday's coaching session with you AJ (and his coach) has noticed a significant improvement. His batting was amazing! The first game in his first at bat - one strike got by him but he hit foul balls of at least 10 throws and was finally walked. Next at bat got a hit and ended up getting to third on steals. Every one got out after him though he stole to 3rd and tried to get home. The 2nd game: he hit a line drive over third on the fly!! Made it to First base, stole from there and was the first run counted in. Next at bat; he cranked one just outside 3rd base into foul zone and next had a fly over short which was caught. His third tournament game he was moved up in the batting order to 5th (from 8 and 9th!) his first at bat was a grounder to short but got out at first. 2nd time at bat Line drive over short got home on steals. Last at bat he was walked after 6 pitches stole/ran to third. His batting confidence showed in his fielding as the coach kept him in at 3rd for most of the games. He made two double plays at third. We can't thank you enough for helping AJ. 😊 tonight's his last game which I can't make but hopefully it's as great as the last few.
I first encountered Brent’s passion for baseball during my time on the baseball team at Bethel University. Over the years I have observed this passion grow on the field and off. Whether, working toward enhancing another individual’s unique skill set, developing his own skills of hitting for power and pitching with great control, tirelessly researching, observing and studying the next great talent in Major League Baseball (Mike Trout, I heard it from him first), developing informational websites for Twins fans, or running a baseball Hall of Fame rookies autograph collection business, Brent always has baseball on his mind. Through organized and informal means Brent has given much of his time to helping others develop a passion for the game of baseball on and off the field. A charismatic personality allows him to be of influence to ball players looking to improve hitting to the opposite field and those looking to improve skills in life off the field alike. Brent’s passion for baseball is what sets him apart from others. He truly does all he does for the love of the game. Including, dressing up in moose antlers for a Kansas City Royals third baseman (a good google search might just find you a picture). Especially with youth athletes, when developing interest, fun and passion for the game of baseball is so important I highly recommend Brent. Brent’s technical strengths lie in his use of video feedback which enhances his commitment to analysis of technique and mechanics; as well as his deep knowledge of the techniques and mechanics of professional baseball players that help make them successful. In addition, Brent’s belief in the individualization of technique and mechanics is an asset not shared by many. Brent delivers a unique, individualized approach to learning the game of baseball.
