More About Coach Branislav
I am from Serbia and I moved into USA a little bit ove 3 years ago. I have been an athlete since I was 7. Trained karate for 8 years. I started playing basketball when I was 12 and continued playing until I graduated college 2007.
I have been coach since 2004. My coaching back ground is coming from Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, University in Belgrade, Serbia, where I specialized basketball coaching as well as strength and conditioning. My title is professor of sport-basketball coach top grade. Both my professors from college that they were my mentors as well were successful basketball coaches as well. They are PhD Milivoje Karalejic and PhD Sasa Jakovljevic. I have coached several professional clubs in Serbia, mostly I was assistant coach for senior teams and head coach for athletes under 18 years age. I was also doing strength and conditioning. When I moved into USA, I have also coached one high school team here in Colorado- Longmont High school. I have also been a personal trainer since 2003. I am currently working for a Club.
My session plan depends on what athlete needs to improve, but mostly if i am doing strength and conditioning, that would be building a strong base in strength first and then working on speed, agility and power. In terms of basketball skills,that would be individual technique: ball handling,dribbling,passing,shooting,lots of basketball drills that include all this segments necessary for successful basketball playing.
My typical 1-on-1 coaching session:
- Strength training:
* Active dynamic warm-up- 5-10 min
* 1-2 power exercises- primary
* 1-2 strength exercises- secondary
* 2-3 muscle hypertrophy exercises- assistance
* Cool down, stretching, shooting...
- Basketball training:
*Specific warm-up: practice dribbling,passing, active dynamic stretching 5-10 min....
*Individual technique: perimeter drills, post drills, ball handling drills, shooting drills, rebounding drills(mostly for post players). Not necessarily all this drills are combined in one session. Also could be involved some individual defense.
* Last 10-15 min. some endurance basketball drills, or shooting drills, stretching...
