More About Coach Brandon

I have experience giving private hitting and fielding instructions at Pastime Training Center in Frisco for 8 months. Also was an assistant coach for a 12u team for the Pastime Aces for 2 months. I have worked with children as young as 6 years old all the way up to 16 years old.

I played baseball at Frisco Heritage High School from 2010-2012 where I set the stolen base, and doubles record. I was an All District second baseman in 2011, and was the first baseball player to receive a division 1 scholarship at my school. In the summer of 2011 I was invited by the Texas Rangers to tryout for the Area Code Underclass Baseball Games, a showcase for the best underclassmen in the nation to play in front of hundreds of college and MLB scouts.

In 2012 I went on to start my career at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi on a athletic scholarship. I started 3 years there and lettered as a utility infielder, bouncing around from second base, shortstop, and third base. Also helped lead my team one game away from going to our first Regional baseball tournament in school history. Instead of continuing my career at the professional level I decided to take a different route and ended my baseball career in May of 2016.

What you can expect from me as an instructor will be a very slow, broken down, step by step, detail oriented approach to developing a quality swing. I believe the first step to an effective swing is being able to control your body and make it move the way you want it to move. I am going to break down the swing piece by piece with lots of hitting off the tee, starting from feet placement, solid/powerful loads, all the way to hand placement. Once I feel the swing is consistent enough I will move on to approach in the box and pitch selection.

We will focus on a term I call "controlled aggression" keeping a inside out approach to the baseball to drive balls up the middle, and develop gap to gap power. Many of my drills and techniques I have learned from former professional baseball players that I trained with in the past. Torii Hunter for example, one of my very good friends and also mentor while I played the game.

I also will offer fielding work as well. Teaching how important is to play the infield with your hands. But the one lesson I learned most when it comes to being a great infielder is allowing your feet to take you where you need to go and put you in the best position to make the play. Being a great infielder is like being a good dancer, light on your feet, with great reaction. My infield training will be another slow approach to using our feet properly when the ball is hit to us. I will start all the way from how to approach the ball, what side of your body we must field on, building a RAMP with your glove, not a bridge or a wall, high breaks for accurate throws, all the way down to focusing on what type of hop we are always looking to field.

My training will be a process but baseball is a game that is all about consistency and building that consistency in the swing and fielding will keep you playing this game for a long time!

Brandon is great!

Coach Brando is a very dynamic coach he figures out where are his weakness and works with that. Pluss very friendly and easy for my son to talk to him. One the first day he show my son some moves in the outfield he did not know about, is great to have someone with great experience helping my son where I can't :)
Thank you

Brandon has been training my daughter for over a year and we are really happy with him! All of us, as well as her coaches, have noticed how much her swing has improved in practice and during games! Brandon has a noticeable passion for baseball and he conveys that through his skills and patience while working with our daughter. She always looks forward to training with him and he's a super awesome guy! I highly recommend him if you're looking for someone who will lovingly coach your child and has a true eye for baseball mechanics!
Being teammates with Brandon Guilford from 2012-2015 was an amazing experience. I say that because for the first time in my amateur baseball career, I had finally met an individual whom I knew would push me as fas as my talent level would allow. You would think being the captain of a Division 1 college baseball team would be an enormous feat, but with Brandon as a teammate, it was like having another captain on the field. Brandon is a passionate leader that will not settle for second place, which allowed him to be the epitome of a great role model for those around him. Brandon Guilford is one of those teammates the organization misses on and off the field.
