More About Coach Bobby

I was a McDonalds All American coming out of high school and went on to star at the University of Pittsburgh. I had a 15 year professional career which included winning a gold medal with Team U.S.A. and playing at the highest level of European basketball in Spain's top division (ACB League)

Since my retirement as a player 7 years ago, I have been coaching many levels of player. They range from NBA and collegiate players to grade school children. While the level of training and teaching depends on the experience of the player, attention to detail is stressed at at levels.

Typical sessions consist of getting to understand how a player thinks on the court and building around the strength areas by helping make critical improvements in their weaknesses. Group training sessions are small to assure that each player will get the time they need to learn and improve quickly. Skill development is only part of the training. Instruction also includes teaching how to apply concepts. The emphasis is placed on how to become a better basketball player.

High School McDonalds All American
Big East All Freshman Team
Gold Medal winning member with Team USA Basketball
15 year professional basketball career
Named as one of the best rebounders in ACB history(Spanish Basketball League)

Sessions are built for improvement in the weaker areas of the players game. You are with me to improve. I will assume that you are already in shape. If that is not the case, we will work on building stamina and technical proficiency.

Client Reviews

Great first session with Coach Bobby. Good insight on shooting style and balance. Very positive and practical approach. I'd recommend Coach Bobby.

Outstanding first lesson with my son this afternoon. Bobby is very thorough and patient, and was able to readily identify both his strengths and weaknesses and adapt the session to work on ball handling and shooting form. He knows his stuff, and can communicate very effectively with my son who is 13yo. His extensive basketball experience commanded immediate respect from my son, and you can just tell that Bobby is passionate about the game and loves to teach. I would highly recommend.

Good coach. Understands kid and potential and tailor the instructions.

Great first session. My son visibly improved the first day.

Bobby did a great job recognizing the weaknesses I had from just a few minutes of watching, and he helped me get better at the skills I needed to develop.

If you want to get better, coach Bobby is the guy to help. He loves and knows what he is doing. You can have significant improvements fast, through a natural positive atmosphere.

Coach Bobby was superb! Through a serious of age-appropriate exercises, the boys learned proper form for lay ups and greatly improved their shot and ball handling. Most importantly, Coach Bobby was kind and patient with two almost nine year old boys. Thank you so much!

Calm, focused, and exacting - a real technician of the game - and knows his stuff. After one session, my son had his eyes opened to the possibilities of what private coaching can do for him. We intend to continue with coach Bobby.

Bobby is doing a great job helping my daughter work on the details of her game and get ready for college ball. He's a terrific teacher.

Coach Bobby was a great coach. He made my son feel confident and assured him that he can improve his basketball skills. Definitely will recommend him and would love to have him work with my son again.

Coach Martin was excellent. After one session I feel stronger with my new shot already. I look forward to many more sessions.

My son had a great session with Coach Bobby and learned a lot! He was very encouraging and positive which was really important as my son can get frustrated if he can't get something right away. Coach Bobby has a great energy about him and wouldn't let my son quit until he succeeded. Would definitely recommend!

Coach Bobby was amazing. He was so thorough, knowledgable and helpful. He knew exactly what to focus on with our eight year old. He has such a great passion for the game and easily passes this on to his students. He is a fantastic teacher. Our little guy can't wait to have another lesson with Coach Bobby!

My son just had his first lesson with Bobby and truly enjoyed the session. He felt like he had learned so much from just one session. We are excited to continue to work with Bobby and see how Jacob improves.

Review update--With 1 goal in mind, make the high school basketball team, Eric worked with Coach Bobby through the fall. I felt like progress was being made in each session and confirmed my opinion when during a fall league basketball game another parent asked "Who shot that basket? Was that Eric? That was beautiful". Shot and form improvements courtesy of Coach Bobby. Final confirmation came when Eric achieved his goal of making the team.

Coach Bobby was a perfect fit for my son Eric. Bobby manages teenagers very well and my 13 year old son was thoroughly engaged and comfortable during his coaching session. I loved that Bobby took Eric back to basics first to make sure that the foundation was solid and correct. My son said it best on our way out to the car, "I can't believe how much I learned and I really can't believe how much progress I made in just 1 session. I hope we can continue these sessions." I too saw the results and was thrilled that my son wanted to continue with Coach Bobby. I'm definitely signing Eric up for more sessions.

Fantastic coaching. He took the time to study not just what my son needed for skills but how he learned. Then he structured drills and multi-step memory devices so that my son could learn the skill and do the drills on his own in our driveway. Bobby has a very patient, deliberate style which is a perfect match for a younger player (not a screamer or "my way or the highway"). Looking forward to working more with him.

Coach Bobby, in just one session was able to break down my shot and give me more confidence handling the ball from the top of the arc. I thought I was a pretty good shooter coming in, and I felt a little resistant changing the mechanics of my shot (if it ain't broke, don't fix if right? ) Fortunately, I kept an open mind, and was receptive to Coach Bobby's advice on keeping balanced, bringing my left foot closer to my right, having a higher elbow release point b/n 12-1 o'clock vs my more comfortable 2-3 o'clock, keeping my left hand up all the way through as a guide. I was impressed at how in just a short session, he was able to pick up all the nuances of my flaws, and show me how to improve, thanks Coach!

My son had a fantastic first session with Bobby. Bobby connected well with my son, quickly assessed his areas of improvement, and then ran drills targeted to hone those areas. Bobby style made my son comfortable and inspired to work hard. We're definitely booking more sessions with Bobby.

Great coaching session. Bobby quickly identified errors in my shooting mechanics and provided me with specific things to practice to improve shooting. I could immediately feel the difference in my shot. I look forward to more sessions in the future.

Bobby is great. What I liked best was his ability to make seemingly difficult concepts easy to understand and apply. I already feel more confident with the ball in my hand, and I look forward to working with him again. I just hope players on other teams in my league don't find out about him!

Fantastic first session. I'm amazed at how much one session has not only increased my daughter's confidence in her ability but I can already envision how the things Bobby taught her will translate into her game. Fantastic experience. Thanks so much Bobby. Emily is looking forward to her next session already!

Bobby has worked with my son for several sessions really focusing on developing good technique with fundamental skills, footwork and progressions. He pays great attention to details and nuances of the game, to ensure proper form and execution of skills including timing, transitions and weight shifts -- let's say. My son's progress has been simply amazing as he executes skills with so much more athleticism and coordination.

Most importantly, my son loves working with Bobby: the learning process has been the right mix of challenge and discipline with rewards and encouragement. Bobby is simply a fantastic coach that not only knows how to play the game-- but knows how to teach, break down the skills as needed and engage a kid to excel-- because it is fun to master skills and get to the next level. Few coached can compare-- so I would highly recommend Bobby to any aspiring basketball player.

Very few coaches understand the nuances of the post position. Bobby combines the technical knowhow of a skilled practitioner with the experience of how to play the game at a high level. Bobby knows how to coach in a players voice. I remember him saying: ‘Have fun with your shot. Half will go in; half will not.’ He takes the pressure off of the player while giving them the skills to succeed. Also, Bobby is a pure joy to be around. He is positive, constructive, warm and fun--truly a role model on and off the court.”
He loves working with you and thinks you are a great person and basketball genius and if he plays at Amherst, he will owe it to you. THANK YOU, we are very appreciative!” Steve Pagliuca (Father of J. Pagliuca)
Thank you so much Bobby, she truly loves you and because of you she is a better player and a better person
Thank you for all you've done. It's hard to believe it has only been a year. Lisa and I are very grateful and appreciate everything that you have done not only for the boys, but also for us” Ed St Peter (Father of D. and A. St Peter)
Working with Bobby helped me achieve my dream of becoming an NBA player. His teaching and guidance help me to this day Andrew Nicholson (Orlando Magic)
