More About Coach Blake

My love for baseball started as a 5 year old in little league and has continued to grow throughout each stage of my career. As a Georgia High School Honorable Mention All-Decade Pitcher and a Perfect Game as well as Baseball America’s top 100 in High School Baseball, I earned a full ride scholarship in 2005 to continuing pitching at Georgia Southern University (GSU). In 2008 I was drafted in the 22nd round by the Seattle Mariners and played minor league baseball with the club until 2011. During that time I was named Most Valuable Pitcher while playing for the Pulaski Mariners. In 2012 I played for the Fort Worth Cats Independent Baseball Team as a starting pitcher and have joined the Southern Illinois Miner’s for the 2013 season.

In 2011 I joined the the East Georgia College Baseball Program as the Assistant and Pitching Coach and continued to coach through the 2013 collegiate season. I graduated from GSU in 2012 and am currently completing a Master’s in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Coaching at GSU. With both professional playing and collegiate coaching experience, I offer players a unique private lesson experience. Currently I am an Assistant Coach with University of Tampa's JV Baseball team and Head Coach of the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League.

I enjoy working with baseball players of all ages and encourage a partnership between athletes, myself, and parents, to ensure lessons are meeting expectations and pushing players to reach their goals. More information regarding my pitching philosophy and complete resume is available for review by potential clients.

Baseball America top 100 prospects 2005
Perfect Game top 100 prospects 2005
2005 Starr's Mill High School Pre Season top 25 National Ranking
2004 19U AAU National Champions
22nd Round Draft Pick 2008 to the Seattle Mariners
2008 Pulaski Mariners Most Valuable Pitcher

While pitching is my specialty, I have experience coaching and developing position players as well. During private lessons, I incorporate drills and techniques I have learned and utilized throughout my career to develop players of all ages to their highest potential. Each new player I work with begins their first lesson with a discussion of their short and long term goals. These goals are revisited periodically to ensure I am developing their skills on pace with reaching their desired outcome. A typical lesson will vary depending on the age and skill level of each player, however, it will most likely include:
A review of the previous lessons homework
Today’s lesson plan
Warm-up
Drills targeted to mechanics
Agility training
What-if scenario drills
Next lesson’s homework

I believe the best way to improve skill level is to ensure players are working on their game in between lessons.

Also, for High school Juniors and Seniors looking to play collegiate baseball, I have extensive experience with recruiting and making recruiting videos as well as many connections in the college world. I can make a college recruiting video with a background about yourself and send this as an email to College coaches across the country. Please ask about pricing.
