More About Coach Ben

For the past 15 years I have been training hockey players all over the Boston area. Currently I am a head Coach for Pro Ambitions Hockey as well as The Operations Director. I am also the Head Coach and coaching director for all sub varsity hockey teams at The Noble and Greenough school. In the fall I coach the U16 Neponset Valley River Rats Tier 1 team and run private lessons as well. Prior to working for Pro Ambitions I was the Director of Operations for Michals Hockey Academy where I specialized in Blademill training and shooting lessons. I have trained both male and female hockey players of all ages and abilities.

I graduated The Noble and Greenough school in 2001 where I was a team captain. At Nobles I was First Team All ISL and finished in the top 5 in goal scoring in all 3 years that I attended. Before Nobles I attended Milton Academy where I played varsity hockey in my 8th and 9th grade years. In my high school career I recorded over 180 points in 5 years. After high school I went to Boston College to play for the Eagles. After 2 seasons at BC I transferred to Union College and graduated in 2006. After college I played 2 years of minor league hockey before retiring.

Depending on what the client is trying to accomplish in any given session will determine the flow of each lesson. I always start by evaluation the client to some degree. It is usually very evident in the first 5 minuets where the client lacks in any certain skill set. For instance if the client wants to improve their shot I will watch the player take a dozen shots before I make some tweaks to their technique. If the client wants a total overview of many different aspect of their game I will take a little more time with various drills before going to work on improvements. The middle part of each lesson will be where I work on the clients flaws and explain the reasons behind them. The end of the lesson will be dedicated to getting the player drills to help maintain the adjustments that we made during the lesson. A lesson is meant to give the player the proper tools so that when the work on their game when I am not there they are working on the proper things.

Client Reviews

Coach Ben is awesome. Zeroed right in on what my 9 year old son needed to work on the most! Kept it fun yet produced results.

Ben is insanely good. He did a great job pointing out bad habits in my stride that I would have not otherwise noticed and helped outline a training program for my goals (I play on men's league level). Highly recommended!

My 15 year old son had first session with Coach Ben today and it was great. Ben quickly and accurately figured out my sons needs and began instructing in a patient and fun way. Although my son had difficulty getting up at 5am today to meet Ben, on the ride home he said that he wants to meet "Coach" at 5am every week to improve his game. My son said that he couldn't believe all the skills that he was taught in under an hour - skills that no one had ever shown him before in the 7 years he has been playing hockey. We can't wait for the next session!

Great session! Thanks Ben! Look forward to scheduling another...

My 7 year old son's first words upon coming off the ice from his initial session with Coach Ben were "That was wicked fun!" Those words and the smile on his face were priceless. Coach Ben quickly identified a few opportunities for development and immediately began working on tips to address them with Liam. Liam immediately noticed a difference and can't wait to continue working on these areas with Coach Ben and at his team practices. I highly recommend Coach Ben to assist with your hockey development.
