More About Coach Anthony
I have some years coaching adults in private settings, from anything to technical skills to sheer athletic performance. My strength is in achieving a soccer specific physique that is catered to the athletic needs of that sport and specific position, with a higher focus on fullbacks/ wingbacks.
Growing up in Miami and playing high level club soccer, I was afforded playing with very talented players from a young age. Players who through ODP made it to youth national levels, players who went on to some of the best D1 colleges and even some who still play pro till this day in the MLS. At the age of 36 I still maintain a level 14 BEEP TEST, a top speed of over 20 MPH and keeping my two mile time trial under the 12 min threshold.
If me and my client already have a sense of each other and I have a sense of their current level and fitness abilities I usually run a warm up session focused on touch and relaxation; volley based games with specific alternating cues such as weak foot passes and specific body part traps etc. Then move to a plyometric and footwork based higher tempo segment to continue to warm as well as nurture a sports specific aerobic engine. I'll transition to foot and cone work with soccer specific movement patterns to then incorporating some ball work (receiving, moving to space and passing). I then start the specific workload for that athlete on the day; whether it's position specific cues we need to run through or position specific real game simulated fitness elements we need to sharpen. I'll move to then incorporating slower tempo mechanics work with finishes (crosses or shots depending on the position and player). well then cool down with a some light bodyweight calisthenics for some strength building and then finally I like to end on some casual long balls and distance juggling before we stretch while we recap the session.
