More About Coach Anthony
High-Energy Semi-professional basketball player with over 15 years in athletic experienced in coaching who aims to inspire athletes to do their best. Offers a background in sports medicine, sports psychology, fitness and injury prevention and motivational techniques. In-depth knowledge of Basketball rules and regulations. Health and wellness expert. Nutrition expert. Strength coaching. Sports medicine knowledge. Self-motivated. Dedicated, personable and friendly. My perspective is unique in the training/coaching arena because I've actually done it, even while playing basketball at High Point University with some of my teammates and although I've coached a few teams here and there, my specialty has always been in one on one training. I believe in attention to detail and working towards an individuals' strengths. What may work for you might not for someone else. I've coached classes of 6-17 year olds in after school programs around North Carolina, Virginia and New York locations as well as a private coach for two 16 year olds, (one boy, one girl) and have actually trained current NBA player such as former High School teammate Point Guard Ishmael Smith (Philadelphia 76er's.) during off season. I played at Central Cabarrus High School 2000-04 where I was the all time leading scoring and still holding the Entire States' 3 PT Single Season Record w/ 157 total as well as being honored as 4A MR. NORTH CAROLINA BASKETBALL (2004). Committed to High Point University (Division 1) Summer of 2004. Named all around best point guard in southern east coast by European and USA SELECT Scout where then awarded the chance to play in Finland for one year max after torn ACL. This persisted me to take my talents and knowledge back to my hometown to assist and train others to be the very best that they could possibly be. I choose to coach because I like to give back and help others achieve the greatest and highest level of achievements possible. There are things if I could do them over again, I would concerning college basketball. I was good enough to play in the NBA, but looking back, there are things that I should have done differently. So aside from the technical side of the game, which is always evolving, there is a mental side that is often overlooked, which I incorporate into my training sessions as well. I am as well a part time Pharmacy Technician Trainer.
I tell you all of this to show you that teaching/training/coaching comes very natural to me in whatever field it is.
Basketball has been my first love since I was 5 years old and still is. I would love the opportunity to take you to the next level, be it an AAU team, high school, college, or even pro. I have the tools and the knowledge on how to do so. I aim to put in as much work as desirable in order to achieve the greatest possible results and to overcome to most challenging obstacles that may stand in your way. LET'S WIN TOGETHER! Most importantly LEARN & HAVE FUN. HAVE FUN LEARNING!

Training sessions are based on the age and experience of the athlete. Prior to the first session, I will establish a dialogue with the athlete and/or parent to determine the athlete's skill level. During this discussion, we also have an "expectation setting" discussion to determine exactly what the athlete's goals are and what they are individually looking to achieve as a result of the training. Once the athlete's skill level has been determined, I will design a training program consisting of skill development drills and workouts for the athlete. No two athletes are the same, and that is the mindset with which I approach my athletes. As such, my athletes' training programs will be based on their basketball position, level of skill they possess and level of skill they are interested in achieving. The first session is normally an evaluation of the player(s). The player(s) will go through a series of drills designed to find weaknesses in their game, so that I can develop drills for later sessions that focus mainly on those weaknesses.

Anthony has been my basketball coach and mentor after school for thelast two years. He is my favorite because he is a good teacher and explains plays and drills well. He believes in working hard and in giving 100% all the time. He keeps games in perspective while teaching us to learn from our mistakes. He tells jokes and makes team members laugh. He encourages team sportsmanship and competitiveness. What makes coach anthony special is that he cares for each individual player and has a bond with each one. -Reilly R. - Age 13 Mr. Harris has been one of the most inspiring and funny coaches I have ever had. At times he is serious, but I think that every coach needs this quality to get the team back into line. The thing that I like most about Mr. Harris is that no matter what the drill is or thing you are doing, he can always make it fun. He has been one of the most influential coaches I have ever had, not only for basketball, but for all the other sports I play too. A. Hill - Age 13
