The goal of the first session is to get to know the child, understand their motivation for playing sports, and build a foundation for future sessions. It’s important for me to know if the child is focused on learning the game, improving their skills, getting fit, or preparing for tryouts. From there, I can tailor how we work together to match their individual goals. We’ll keep the session engaging with fun and simple drills, while also introducing some slightly challenging activities to see how they respond under healthy pressure. Throughout the session, I’ll incorporate conditioning and fitness, like light cardio, agility drills, and basketball-specific movements, to help build stamina and promote healthy habits. The idea is to make the first session enjoyable while setting the stage for progress, no matter their starting point. By the end of the session, they should feel motivated and energized, with a sense of what they want to work on in the future.

That was exactly what [the client] needs. He needs to get some confidence in his offense, those moves are great for him.
