More About Coach Annamarie
I have been coaching dance and cheer teams for the last 4 years. I have taught all the way from elementary up to the college level where I am currently coaching today. My biggest accomplishments are with Pop Warner East Bay Warriors Midget team and we were ranked 1st (2 yrs in a row) for Pennisula Pop Warner , 2011and 2012, Pacific Northwest Region champions and 11th in USA in 2011 and 12th USA in 2012.
I am currently the head cheer coach for California State University East Bay cheer team. We are a young team and will be growing and going competitive in years to come.
I am certified thru Pop Warner and all of their standards we had to meet in order to coach for them. I am currently studying certifications to take the college team to the next level and beyond.
I have been a fitness instructor for 20+ years now and have coached people to healthier lives, some have become instructors and others have gone on to compete. My passion is coaching and instructing others on how to become great no matter what their sport or passion maybe.
I was a cheerleader during my years in high school than again in college. Both of those teams were not competitive teams at the time I was on them however my daughter has been a competitive cheerleader since she was 6 yrs old. I have competed in aerobics and fitness competitions. I have been on competitive dance teams and have dance for NIKE on their Rockstar Dance Teams. I was a competitive ice skater until sophomore year in high school than became a cheer leader because I missed the dancing and the choreography and stunting. I love to perform and my talent is getting others ready to perform and entertain the crowds.
I do personalized plans according to what the clients needs are. I do not believe in one workout or one size fits all plans. However I can give you a demonstration of someone who has come in to get their jumps stronger and their dance down.
1. Always do a active warmup to get the blood pumping
2. Stretching to work on flexibility and also to help get those muscles ready to work
3. Start with specific jump drills that will help not only get the jumps higher but also cleaner.
4. Once that is done and done to standard, we would be begin on working on the dance and breaking down the routine count by count. Making sure the client understands the movement and where it goes in the music. Than repeating over and over until it is done to standard.
5. End with strength moves and go over specific moves that need to be worked on and mastered.
