More About Coach Angie
☆ US Figure Skating Coach Compliant
☆ Learn to Skate USA Instructor Compliant
During the 2019 winter season, I was a volunteer coach for Special Olympics/Adaptive Figure Skating NYC. These skaters were anywhere within the teenage years to their late twenties, and were widely varied from learning basic skills or newly introduced to the feeling of stepping on the ice to more advanced skill sets such as crossovers, spirals, and even basic spins. I have also taken on private coaching lessons with a few individuals in my home rink. I am generally new to the coaching profession and recently became eligible to participate in club/program events as a general coach and Learn to Skate instructor.
Besides figure skating, I also have experience in working as a personal trainer/fitness coach at a gym in Boston, where I help implement personalized goals and workout routines for clients of different backgrounds, ages (anywhere from late teens to 50s), fitness levels, and ambitions.
☆彡 2018 Eastern Sectional Competitor
I was a competitive figure skater for 12 years up until my senior year of highschool, where I trained in Long Island, New York and Hackensack, New Jersey with several specialized coaches. During my peak Intermediate and Novice level seasons, I trained over 30 hours per week total on–ice and off–ice. My team traveled to compete across the North Atlantic Regional states. In 2017, I qualified to compete in the Intermediate Ladies 2018 Eastern Sectional Championships.
Before I retired from competing, I had successfully trained to the point of achieving all triple jumps–something that I only could have dreamt of before I met my coach. I will always remember the first time I competed with a double axel and two triples and my old coaches remarked how I had improved so much that I was unrecognizable! As an aspiring coach, I hope to be another skater’s inspiration to achieve such dreams as well.
I prefer a routine where there is a clear beginning, middle, and end of the sessions. Warming up is crucial and having a set warmup routine is beneficial both physically and mentally before getting on the ice. I would emphasize dynamic exercises and stretching, followed by rotational drills and off–ice jumps.
Even when on the ice, there would be on–ice warmup consisting of skating skills and edge exercises. From there, depending on the daily objectives, we would work on jumps, spins, and/or choreography followed by program run throughs and sections (if in the middle of a competitive season). The remainder of the on–ice session would depend on the goals and progress of the skater, which I consider and evaluate during the lesson as we go.
Finally, I would aid the skater in off–ice conditioning (ie. strength/bodyweight, endurance, power, agility training, etc..), followed by a final stretching cooldown. If time does not permit, then I would encourage just a proper stretching cooldown.

Client Reviews
Lucy (CoachUp client)
Angie is not only an incredible skater but she is an incredible coach! She listens to and understands the skills I want to learn, teaches me new techniques/drills and explains them + their importance very well, and is super kind and encouraging, and her tips (esp as they relate to form) have been incredibly helpful. She follows standard curriculum, and is also open to some flexibility if there is anything in particular I want to work on; I really appreciate how collaborative lessons are. Wouldn't wanna take lessons with anyone else, and would recommend her to anyone. Thanks Angie!!!
Kevin (CoachUp client)

Melanie (CoachUp client)
A very nice coach. Good individual one-to-one lessons
Maya (CoachUp client)
Extremely friendly and spends a lot of time correcting and adjusting, making sure you have a set foundation for each skill with constructive feedback.
My Head Coach (Testimonial)
Angie's strength and weakness both are her perfectionism. But it is definitely more of a strength than a weakness!
