More About Coach Angel

I am experienced in coaching younger athletes develop better skills. A former collegiate short stop at the Division II level, I have developed a unique expertise on infield work. I have worked for various camps coaching baseball, one of those being NYBA at Hofstra University. I coached my own baseball team of 12 year olds out in Long Island and have also done private lessons with athletes ages 7-18. I can provide a good foundation for infield, outfield and hitting.

I am originally from the Dominican Republic, with over 20 years of experience playing and helping others learn baseball. I have traveled all over the U.S. and Puerto Rico. I have received over $80,000 in athletic scholarships from going to school in Oklahoma and NY. I've also played baseball locally in Brooklyn for the Brooklyn Bonnies for over 10 years. I have been captain of multiple teams. Won multiple gold gloves, in summer leagues, high school and college. I lead NYC in hitting in 2009 (my senior year in HS) with a .565 avg, in which I was recognized with a plaque in Yankee Stadium. I am part of the Wall of Fame in Sheepshead Bay High School. I also led Northern Oklahoma University in hitting in 2012 and was recognized as best hitter and received a gold glove. My last two years of college, I played at Long Island University Post.

Typically, I like dividing my training sessions into three parts; 1) Running/Stretching/Throwing, 2)Defense and 3)Hitting.
Each particular part will last about 20 minutes, depending on how long the training session is.
1) RST
a. Jogging/Ladder work/Calisthenics/Stretching
b. Throwing: 5 step throwing program which increases in distant every week

2) Defense
Some of the things I like doing are Short hops/Scoops - side shuffles, Back-hands/ Fore-hands, regular grounders or fly balls (ready-set position), double play footwork and throwing to bases.

3) Hitting -
Some of the things I do involve bent-knee flips, soft toss, regular BP. (focusing on inside, up the middle and outside pitching)
