More About Coach Andy
I have a B.S. in Exercise Science and an M.S. in Exercise Physiology. I hold two certifications: ACE Certified Personal Trainer and NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. My background includes all ages and abilities, from children in an activity program, to young athletes, to collegiate athletes and recreational lifters, to older adults of varying fitness levels and limitations. I have been personal training for only 3 threes, but have tremendous experience, and use any down-time to study and research everything health and fitness related.
As a player, I helped lead the University of Tennessee Men's club lacrosse team to its first playoff game in 10 years. I played lacrosse for 8 total years, including time in high school and college.
I just started coaching lacrosse last year and worked with the 8th grade boys team at Brentwood High school. I'm currently the Conditioning coach for the high school lacrosse team, and also design and implement the Strength workouts for BHS girls basketball.
First I do an assessment to check the abilities of my client or athlete. We start with simple exercises like a push-up, squat, and planks, to establish a starting point for the athlete/client. After the initial assessment, we'll start by developing correct movement patterns and cues, and work on building core strength and mobility. I firmly believe in a strong foundation in which to build upon with more advanced lifts and techniques.
