More About Coach Andre

My experience of coaching and training started from the moment I stepped on a basketball court. Over the course of my career I have planned, organized and implemented free basketball camp for approx. 150 youth Taught basketball fundamentals in a fun and supportive environment Modeled good sportsmanship and teamwork Planned daily, weekly, monthly events in gym Maintained a clean and safe gym, and wellness center. I have coached and trained athletes as young as 8 to college seniors. I have coached in a surplus of states for example youth teams in North Dakota, Kansas, Florida, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts.

I played my high school basketball in New York City at Frederick Douglass Academy where I was a three-year varsity starter and captain. I then went to junior college in Bismarck, North Dakota at United Tribes where I was a two-year starter, All conference, as well as Academic All American. My Sophomore season I lead the team in Points, Assist, Steals. I then went on to compete at a University of Saint Mary a NAIA D2 in Leavenworth, Kansas. Where I was a starter at the point guard position, and was awarded academic honors again. I’m currently working out to pursue a career overseas in El Salvador, and Turkey.

I truly believe every basketball player is unique and different in their own way. I still believe that every player should master the fundamentals of the game no matter their position. For example, just because your 6’9 doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to guard a point guard and handle the ball and just because your 5’10 doesn’t mean you can’t be an effective inside presence. I like to focus on less being more on offense, cutting out all the flash and wasted motions to become extremely efficient. More importantly having the drive to be a standout defender and rebounder which is just as much will as skill, therefore in a typical session you will see drills and conversations based around that.

To Whom It May Concern: This letter is in reference to Andre Clark. Andre was a student-athlete here at United Tribes for two seasons. During this time, I saw first-hand the character of Andre Clark in many different settings ranging from social to academic to athletic arenas. In all arenas, he exhibited the highest levels of achievement and professionalism. Andre is a highly motivated, task and achievement-driven individual who employs a solid work ethic. He was always reliable, always on time, and always gave his maximum effort. Andre stood out as an athlete due to his given talents but also because he worked hard to expand upon his athletic abilities. However, I am even prouder to say that his athletic achievements, though many, paled in comparison to his academic and personal achievements. Andre is the only Academic All-American we have ever had. He was held in the highest of regards by our faculty, staff, and administration. Aside from his academic success, he was always working full-time jobs here on campus. He was never late and always did what was asked and did it well. At some point in his life, he realized that hard work and a great attitude would carry him a long way in life. Our college benefitted greatly from his work and attitude. Having coached over 12 years at the collegiate level and having worked with over 400 student-athletes, can say that Andre Clark is one of the finest, if not the finest, individual student-athlete I have ever had the privilege of watching and working with. Having four sons of my own, I would be honored and proud if they exhibited half of what Andre does. He is a true professional and is destined for great things. It is without reservation that I would give Andre my highest recommendation. I would be more than happy to share any related information concerning my experience with him. Please feel free to contact me at any time. Sincerely Hunter Berg
