More About Coach Andrea

Originally from Upstate New York, Andrea moved to San Diego from the East Coast in May of 2008, recently making her way back to Charlotte, NC in October 2016. Playing every sport growing up kept Andrea well-rounded; however, it was lacrosse where she excelled. A starter her freshman year on Varsity lacrosse, Andrea aided her team to the State Championship for four consecutive years. Being involved with many extracurricular activities, Andrea was president of Key Club for three years, treasurer of her senior class, and parliamentarian of the student council. She also coached younger kids at the local YMCA in gymnastics, was an ice skating instructor, and worked summers for Parks and Recreation. Growing up, Andrea also played volleyball, basketball, ran track, and was on the swim & dive team. Ultimately, it was lacrosse where she found her passion.

In college, Andrea not only continued her love for athletics by playing lacrosse, but also wrote for various publications, was on several committees, secretary of Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society, and started substitute teaching when she was 19. Ready to start her life, Andrea graduated a year early from Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Professional & Technical Communication. In 2004, she moved south where she started her entrepreneurial journey, working with the first of four start-up companies.

Over the next few years Andrea lived in Baltimore, MD and Charlotte, NC where she coached girls' lacrosse for middle school, youth leagues, and high school camps. She also helped student-athletes who were interested in playing at the collegiate level by helping them with the recruiting process. Andrea's ability to help kids get excited about what they can accomplish is where she feels the most fulfilled.

Andrea moved to San Diego in 2008, and started off as the Head Varsity lacrosse coach at both public and private high schools, helped coach a competitive club program, and ran numerous clinics and lessons. Andrea coached for four seasons as a middle school girls' coach for the Scripps Ranch Lacrosse Association, and was the Executive Director of SRLax overseeing the boys' and girls' pee-wee and middle school programs for two years. She completed her fifth season as Head Coach at UC San Diego in 2016. In 2014, the Tritons were coined the WWLL Division II Champions in Santa Barbara. Andrea was also named Coach of the Year during the league championship. In 2013, Andrea left her six-figure job in medical sales to pursue her dream and go full-time lacrosse. In February 2016, TEAM Lacrosse Academy was officially born, with the help of co-founder, Katie Williams.

Andrea continues her love of the sport year round by playing post-collegiate lacrosse with San Diego Lacrosse Club, traveling to tournaments in Hawaii, Lake Tahoe, and Las Vegas annually. In addition to coaching, Andrea has been involved in several non-profits, charities and served on the board for the San Diego Chapter of USLacrosse, Secretary of Be REAL Students, Secretary of the WWLL (Western Women's Lacrosse League), and Committee Chair for Tackle ALZ (SD Alzheimer's Association). As of October 2016, Andrea moved to Charlotte, NC expanding TEAM Lacrosse Academy, and helping spread the love of lacrosse from Southern California to the East Coast! She was the head varsity lacrosse coach at Providence High School for four years, and was named Coach of the Year for the 2016-2017 season. Andrea currently coaches at Lake Norman Charter where she's a substitute teacher and tutor. Her true passion is to coach, teach and mentor young women to become the best version of themselves as student-athletes on the lacrosse field as well as community leaders.

In high school, Andrea was the president of Key Club three years, treasurer of her senior class, parliamentarian of the student council, while playing varsity lacrosse and aiding her team to the State Championship. She also coached younger kids at the local YMCA in gymnastics, was an ice skating instructor, and worked summers for Parks and Recreation. Growing up, Andrea also played volleyball, basketball, ran track, and was on the swimming & diving team; however, it was lacrosse where she found her passion.
In college, Andrea not only continued her love for athletics by playing lacrosse, but also wrote for various publications, was on several committees, secretary of Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society, and started substitute teaching when she was 19 (possible if you have two years of college credits - which she had from taking college classes her senior year of high school from Syracuse University). Ready to "start her life,” Andrea graduated a year early from Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree and a 3.5 GPA in Professional & Technical Communication. In 2004, she moved south where she started working with the first of four start-up companies.

I always do a pre-evaluation of the student-athlete WITH their parents to have a better idea of what the athlete thinks are their skills and what they think they can work on, and also get the parent(s) perspective to see where they think they're at. From there, I develop a game plan that mainly consists of drills according the player's position, teaching them some tricks or tips they may not have heard from previous coaches, and of course something to take home and practice. I like to always incorporate fun into my sessions, and want the student-athlete to walk away with a greater love for the game and the desire to keep practicing to get to the next level!

Client Reviews

Coach Andrea was great. It was Caroline's first time playing goalie and she learned a ton. Andrea was patient and knowledgeable.

Andrea is amazing! She is very knowledgeable, patient and positive. One of the best coaches I’ve seen in a long time at any level. I highly recommend her.

Coach Andrea is an Excellent
Coach! She is great with athletes with varying skill levels. She is able to juggle a group effectively. I would highly recommend!!

My daughter’s experience with Coach Andrea has been great. I would happily recommend her to anyone. She is encouraging, extremely knowledgeable and able to train for all field positions including goalie - my daughter’s position. After just a few sessions I saw an improvement in my daughter’s keeping skills and a big jump in her confidence. What more can you ask for? Thank you Coach!

After 1 lesson my son Evan has put more practice time in by himself than I have ever seen in any sport. Coach Andrea really made it simple for him. Great job!

Meeting Coach Andrea has been one of the highlights of our quarantine time. Coach Andrea met us at a park right near our house and when the park we were planning to meet at ended up being closed. Andrea immediately found another park nearby and met us there. She arrived on time and came equipped with goals and cones and gave my daughter a great workout, even sending her home with reminders of things she needed to work on. We are so happy that we found Coach Andrea through this online platform! We are looking forward to seeing her a lot this summer!

Andrea was great with my son. After the lesson he got in the car and couldn’t stop talking about how excited he was and how much he liked Coach Andrea.

Coach Andrea is by far the best coach anyone could ever ask for! As a new player trying to prepare for the collegiate level she helped me in every aspect in just ONE session! She was more than willing to help me not only understand the game but improve my technique as well! She did not just instruct me on how to be better but she participated and showed me examples as well. She is extremely friendly, personable and a great instructor. I can walk onto a field with so much more confidence than I ever could have before and I can not wait to train more with her!

Coach Andrea was very knowledgeable and worked great with my teenage daughter and made her feel very comfortable .

My daughter instantly felt comfortae with Coach Andrea and continues to look forward to every session!

The girls came off the field saying how much they had learned and they loved the small group, which gave more individualized attention. The more experienced girls, who played last year, said they learned more from your clinic, than they did all of last year! And then we all shook our heads and laughed, thanking God you came here! So, THANK YOU! They loved it! They loved "steal the bacon","slumber party" and circle keep-away! The girls also liked the across body twist & throw, the team-building aspect of the clinic and thought you coaches did a fantastic job of coaching and educating! They just loved it all!
