More About Coach Andre'
Over 10+ years of basketball coaching experience, training athletes from beginners to competitive high school and college players in Lincoln, Omaha, Chicago, and nationwide.
I specialize in shooting mechanics, ball handling, and overall skill development using my signature 4-Step Shooting Methodology (Bend Knees, Lock Wrist, Shoot on the Way Up, Hold Follow Through).
My training incorporates muscle memory, procedural memory, and the overload principle to create long-lasting skill improvements, and leverages the General Adaptation Syndrome to systematically progress athlete performance while minimizing injury.
Each session is results-driven, structured, and focused on translating skills directly into game performance, preparing athletes to excel at every level.
I played high school basketball on an Athletic scholarship at De La Salle Institute in Chicago where I started varsity since being a sophomore and earned honorable mention all state my sophomore and senior year and was All Chicago Catholic league for three years.
I played against the best competition in Chicago with going against professional athletes like Derrick Rose of the New York Knicks, Patrick Beverley of the Houston Rockets, Javale McGee of the Golden State Warriors , and Evan Turner of the Portland Trail Blazers just to name a few.
I sat out after I graduated high school with a shoulder injury which caused me to miss a year and a half of playing basketball at a high level. I continued my career at a junior college called Oakton Community College in Des Plaines, IL.
At Oakton, I played for current NBA skills trainer Steve Pratt who runs Full Package Athletics which is a nationally recognized program for player development and team leadership. After Oakton I finished off my career playing for Missouri Valley College, which is an NAIA Division 1 college.
I have decided to pursue a career in helping student- athletes develop their game and achieve their goals using my knowledge and experience of the game of basketball and giving back to the community.
Session Focus: Shooting & General Basketball Skill Development
Duration: 60–75 minutes
Structure: 4-Step Shooting Method + general skill training + performance principles
⸻
1️⃣ Warm-Up & Activation (10 min)
• Dynamic stretches, mobility, and jump prep
• Short-range form shooting to engage muscle memory
• Focus on proper shooting posture (Bend Knees & Lock Wrist)
⸻
2️⃣ Shooting Mechanics (20–25 min)
4-Step Shooting Methodology Applied:
1. Bend Knees – balance and power
2. Lock Wrist – spin and control
3. Shoot on the Way Up – smooth, fluid motion
4. Hold Follow Through – consistency and repeatability
Training Principles:
• Muscle Memory & Procedural Memory: High-rep form shooting (100–300 makes per spot)
• Overload Principle: Gradually increase reps, distance, or defensive pressure each session
• Feedback: Immediate corrections reinforce proper mechanics and mental focus
⸻
3️⃣ Ball Handling & General Skills (15–20 min)
• Dribbling under pressure & movement drills
• Passing & catching at game speed
• Conditioning through basketball-specific movements (G.A.S. principle applied for progressive adaptation)
⸻
4️⃣ Game Situational Drills (10–15 min)
• Catch-and-shoot under fatigue
• Shooting off the dribble
• Competitive situational reps simulating game pressure
Purpose: Translate mechanics and skill repetition into real-game performance and confidence
⸻
5️⃣ Cool Down & Reflection (5 min)
• Light stretching & mobility
• Review performance highlights
• Set goals for next session to reinforce procedural memory and progressive overload
⸻
💡 SESSION PLAN NOTES
• Each session gradually increases volume, intensity, and complexity to optimize adaptation and minimize plateaus (General Adaptation Syndrome)
• Athletes track makes, reps, and skill improvement metrics to measure progress
• Emphasis on high-repetition, quality reps to ingrain muscle and procedural memory
• Training is available in-person (Lincoln, Omaha, Chicago) or virtually nationwide

I have had the pleasure of using Coach Andre on a few occasions for my 14yr old son & am very impressed with his knowledge & work ethic. He devised a plan suited to my son’s needs & pushed to him to succeed while encouraging him at the same time. Very happy with Coach Andre,as is my son.

Coach Andre’ was very nice! He was very patient with my 10 year old son and showed him some great shooting techniques. He also had a one-on-one conversation with him about how to mentally strategize before a game. My son loved him & has asked me everyday when he’ll get to train with him again. Thanks Andre’!
Nina (CoachUp client)

Wow!! Coach Andre is amazing! Very patient and extremely knowledgeable. It is hard to determine a coach based on a profile, but I have to say I definitely picked the right coach for Jason. Coach Andre definitely knows his stuff. We booked 10 sessions and it is definitely worth it.

Coach Andre was a great coach. He did an excellent job with my nephew. He was extremely patient and helped work on the mechanics of his shot. We'll be signing up for more sessions to continue the development.

Coach Andre was outstanding. My son has had other coaches before but he really likes this coach. He says he taught him things that no other coach has taught him before. He not only taught the physical side but also the mental as well. I would highly recommend using him.

After two sessions with coach Andre, I already see the improvement in my son's game. I have been coaching basketball for years, but Coach Andre's skills and knowledge are well beyond mine. Andre is professional, patient, courteous, and pleasant. He has well planned lessons that cover all aspects of the game. This experience far exceeded my expectations. You will not be disappointed.

If any parent out there is trying to decide whether to invest the time & the money to get a personal trainer for your young athlete, do not hesitate to take the chance. Coach Andre's attention to what skills my daughter needs to work on as she approaches high school athletics makes the investment in time and money worth it. Bring an extra water bottle for them because it will not be an easy session. The personal training goes way beyond what travel leagues will teach (not an earth-shattering statement).

Awesome. I saw an instant improvement in my son's jumpshot. Andre' expressed to me he saw some talent in my son and he's very coachable and he looks forward to working with him. Our time got cut short, but he worked with me and I'll definitely be booking more appointments sooner rather than later. Thanks

My son, and his friend, really like Coach Andre'. He has excellent teaching skills along with tons of support. He traveled all the way to the northwest side, when he lives on the far Southside! That's commitment to a job he loves. I would recommend him to those who have young boys, or girls, who want to learn from a gentleman who knows what he's doing and loves his profession!

2/13/17 I was very pleased with coach Andre'. He was very polite and patient with my son. My son took to him very easily which is odd for my son. I felt like it was easy for my son to learn from coach Andre' because he knew how to work well with kids. Thanks!
Jerry Cotton / AIE (Testimonial)
I started playing basketball at 18 as an experiment a close friend of mine had a and if I gave 100% I'd have Professional grade basketball knowledge my skill will show through my efforts the sports psychology seemed legit so I bought in and it paid we worked 10 hours a day every day for 30 days the start to my 10,000 hours of practice journey I watched myself go from not being able to dribble or lay up with my left hand to an euro step with a reverse left hand lay up it was incredible my ability to make reads and choose the correct one and the muscle memory is real ten years later I still have the same shooting form still the same I'm proud to be apart of AIE I'm a true believer.
