More About Coach Anderson
My coaching journey began with a focus on individual skill development, working independently with players across the Philadelphia area. I discovered a passion for breaking down complex techniques into manageable steps, tailoring training sessions to each player's specific needs and goals. This hands-on approach allowed me to witness firsthand the impact of personalized coaching, fostering not only technical improvement but also a deeper understanding of the game. I also had the opportunity to work alongside my father, assisting with his team, small group, and individual sessions. This experience allowed me to see a different side of coaching, from team management to creating engaging and effective training environments.
Beyond individual and small group training, I've also gained valuable experience working at soccer camps for Fairo Soccer and Challenger Sports. These camps provided a dynamic environment where I learned to adapt my coaching style to large groups of diverse skill levels. I focused on creating a fun and positive atmosphere while still emphasizing fundamental skills and fostering a love for the game. Additionally, my involvement in the mentorship program at Chestnut Hill Academy has been instrumental in developing my ability to build positive relationships with younger students. This experience has taught me the importance of guidance and support, qualities that are essential in both coaching and mentorship. I believe that building strong connections with players and mentees creates a foundation for growth and success.
I'm a senior soccer player at Springside-Chestnut Hill Academy, and I pride myself on my technical skills, vision, and defensive capabilities. My soccer journey has taken me around the world, with training stints at professional academies in China, Colombia, Spain, and Argentina. These experiences have shaped my understanding of the game and given me a unique perspective. I'm deeply passionate about player development, which is why I founded the Chestnut Hill Soccer Academy. Looking ahead, I'm thrilled to be playing college soccer in the fall and competing in the NPSL this summer
My session plans are meticulously crafted to maximize player development. I begin by collaborating with parents and players to create a personalized Individual Development Plan, ensuring alignment with their specific goals. Utilizing the USSF Player Development Framework, I then identify key player behaviors that can be effectively trained in individual or small group settings, focusing on drills that simulate real game situations. To provide concrete feedback and facilitate learning, I video each session, paying close attention to posture, touch, efficient movement, balance, and coordination. This allows players to visually recognize areas for improvement. Finally, I emphasize high repetitions of movement and ball handling, building valuable muscle memory that translates to improved performance on the field.
